fíister Holeman has represented her
association at a national convention in
New Orleans and was panelist at the
Presidenťs Roundtable in San An-
gelo in September. The national, statě,
and local associations were formed
strictly to further the education of
legal secretaries, and in pursuance of
the purpose for which it was formed
a professional legal educational course
was offered during Mildreďs adminis-
tration with an expected attendance of
60 or 65. Instead of 60 or 65, the
enrollment went ov,er 200.
The Houston Association gives a
scholarship to some worthy student
each year, and a scholarship tea was
recently given in the home of Mrs.
Jessié Lee Schindler at 3993 Del Mon-
te. The proceeds from this tea exceed-
ed over two-thirds of the scholarship
fund needed for the year.
Mildred attended the University of
Houston. She is married to Billie Jack
and they háve been blessed with four
fine children — three sons and one
daughter, who is now attending San
Houston State College.

Adámek Benefit Check
Dear Brother Morris:
The enclosed picture shows a few of
us handing over a check in the amount
of $1,088 to Mrs. Marie Adámek, a pa-
tient in Seott & White Hospital in
Temple. This represented the total
amount collected from the Adámek
Benefit Dance, given at Lodge 88 on
Sunday, Jan. 14th.
In the picture you see Mrs. Adámek
(in bed), Louis Hanuš (president of
Lodge 88), Mrs. Adamek’s daughter
Deborah, John Zemko (co-chairman of
the benefit dance), Alfred Vrážel of the
Vrážel Polka Band, and Harley Cox
(Chmn., Entertainment Comm., Lodge
88).
Those not able to make the trip to
Temple for the presentation were Nor-
man Barnes of the Lamplighters Orch-
estra, Anton Vrážel of the Vrážel Polka
Band, Lee Roy Matocha, Gil Bača, R.ay
Krenek, and Bob Novosad, committee
member.
Incidentally, Mrs. Adámek is in
Room 538, Seott & White Hospital in
Temple.
Thanks again to everyone every-
where who helped in any way to make
this benefit the outstanding success
that it was. This was reál fraternalism
in action!

CORRECTION SISTER MILDRED HOLEMAN
In last week’s writeup on Velma
Jean Kubala, we stated that she was
one of 14 children. She is, in fact,
an only child. Her mother, Mrs. Frank
(Novosad) Pokorný comes from a fam-
ily of 14 children. Mrs. Pokorny’s par-
ents were Mr, and Mrs. Josef and Rosa
Novosad, members of SPJST Lodge No.
20, Granger. —Editor.
