Whaťs the moral of this story? An
idle mind is indeed “the devil’s work-
shop,” and once again, it has been
proven that if you give youngsters
something wholesome and constructive
to do with their leisure time, they will
stay out of serious trouble. In Denison,
a Boys’ Club has proven to be a large
part of the answer. No one is kidding
themselves into believing however, that
any such club can salvě all the com-
munity ills. Clubs and similar such or-
ganizations are no panacea for the
problems of delinquency, The fact does
remain, however, that given a decent
plače to go, and something decent to
ído, boys, (and girls) will behave them-
selves, provided, of course, they háve
been taught sorne basic fundamentals
of what is right and wrong by their
parents. Home environment still plays
an important role in a youngster’s be-
havior. We, in the SPJST, try to pro-
vide just such activities through our
youth clubs. With the approach of the
spring season, youth activities will piek
up considerably. See that your child,
your lodge, play a definite role in
youth activities. Keep them occupied.
Keep them busy. Keep them out of
malieious mischief.
