IIow many votes will eaeh delegáte
bavě? There’s no question about how
many votes they háve at a-convention,
but is this a convention? If both a
■delegáte and alternate are deceased,
wiio takés their plače? You can only
clect lodge delegates in the annual
lodge meeting preceding a convention.
If the new rest horné director was il-
legally elected this past spring, háve
not all other rest home directors been
illegally elected, since they were all
elected by the same method? Does Dis-
trict. III, and indecd, the other 6 dis-
tricts, háve a rest home director, or are
they technically without representa-
tion at the present time and in light of
the current interprětation? May the
districts elect one at all?
These are all serious matters that
will háve to be resolved somehow in
the coming months.
It has been stated on occasions that
the rest home is a separate Corporation,
apart from the SPJST. This is probably
why there are no provisions in our
SPJST By-Laws to elect directors to
that separate Corporation, The SPJST
vould thus not be bound by whatever
by-laws that Corporation has for its
operations.

Progress and Housecleanmg
More progress and profits may somc-
times be found in smáli improvements
than in big changes. Something is fun-
damentally wrong with any business
that needs a complete housecleaning
and overliauling every 3 or 4 years.
The smáli changes that must and
should be made from time to time are
those necessary to keep abreast with
the times and wise management. Dras-
tic and sudden changes in policy de-
notes unsound practices.

Committees
There are pcoplé who feel that ap-
pointing a committee to do a certain
task spells doom to that- project. Per-
haps — but most of the time a com-
mittee can grab hold of a sticky prob-
lém and como up with a good and quick
solution. It Lias been shown that when
a definite task is to be performed, in-
volving the consideration of certain
facts and reaching a conclnsion, a
committee wofks f aster and better
than one of its members. Suppose a
vory serious matter comes up. A dozen
men gather, discuss all factors, and
decide on a policy. An individual could
not work fast enougli in such a situ-
ation. He could not assemble all the
Information available to him, as well
as could a dozen men. Thaťs why the
