garding our growth down through the
years, p.articularly aur persistency r^te,
com >ared to our íapse rate. Most any
life insurance company would be en-
viou3 of our record in this respecfc. Bro.
Hejny explains that lapsed, converted,
surrendeded, and paid-up policies. in
1-963 cannot be chaťged against the
one year of 1963, since these had their
origin many years back and must be
charged against our 68 years in busi-
ness. Our SPJST Íapse rate is one of
the lowest in the whole country. Our
persistency rate (policies in řoree for
at least 15 rnonths), if measured as it
IS in other life Insurance companies,
would average 98 per cent plus.

These statistice and figures prove the
quality of our Insurance program and
attest to the confidence people plače
in ít. Incidentally, the national persís-
tency rate is oniy 82 per cent.
It foehooves every member to study
earefully Bro. Hejny’s report and the
•statistice accompanying it. In a nut-
shell: We’re doing all right!

The By-Laws Committee had its first
session on February 15 and 16 in Tem-
ple. Their work eontinued on February
29th. In this issue, we can read the
results of their first session. It is
likevvise incumbent upon each member,
espefially the delegates, to study these
reeommended changes very earefully
and thoroughly, be prepared to dis-
cuss them intelligently during the
convention proceedings, and be pre-
pared to vote for or against. In other
wo.r.ds, do a little “homework” ahead of
time, and who knows, the convention
might wind up its business in record
tiríie.
