LETTERS
DISTRICT V Y.A.D.
Dear Members and Friends,
There are so many of you I want
to thank for helping make our Dis-
trict V Youth Acťivity Day a success!
First of all, I want to thank each of
you who came there to give our youth
encouragement! As David Miculka
said in his “Welccme” from the youth,
you could háve stayed home and
watched TV in cool eomfort, but in-
stead you came and gave support to
our girls and boys and to the won-
derful work of our youth leaders. Spe-
ciál thanks go to Vice President Joe B.
Hejny, Youth Director Jim Kučera,
and Editor and Mrs. Nick Morris for
coming so far, and many thanks,
Nick, for that beautiful rendition of
the “Star-Spangled Banner!”
Speciál thankg also go to Brother
Earl Cameron of Angleton who helped
so much in publicity, in getting the
fine judges for our contests, and in at-
tending to so many of the details. We
surely appreciate your kind help.
We surely are gratefvl to the judges:
Mrs. Věrna Henry, Mrs. John Damon,
and Mr. Tommy Journear, for coming
out and doing a fine job. Our thanks
go to pianist Estelle Kelly, to “chief
engineers” Frankie Sembera and ,Steve
Kelly, for taking care of our speaker
systém and seeing that it worked just
right, and to photographers, Nick Mor-
ris and Dick Schnell; I knov/ we all
will enjoy the picíures you took.
We are indebted to Sister Ruby Čer-
nošek for loaning us her nice piano,
to Brother Alfred Hilsher for loaning
us t,he truck to haul it to Angleton;
and to Brother Henry Linhart for driv-
ing the truck to and from Angleton. As
you can see, we had a problém that
was quickly solved by faithfui mem-
bers; I think that Brothers Tim Kos-
tom and Alvin Melnar also helped in
solving this problém!
To the wonderful youth leaders of
District V, Mrs. Evelyn Christ of Lodge
No. 81, Mrs. Wanda Elzner of Lodge 88,
Mrs. Henry Linhart of Lodge 142, and
Mrs. Bessie Findley of Lodge 146, I say
a big “thank you” for your splendid
eooperation! I know how hard you had
to work to get your contestants in va-
cation time and I know I speak for
the entire district when I say “many
thanks for a job well doně!”
Speciál thanks go to District Direc-
tor Ernest Hanka and the district of-
íicers: President Alvin Melnar, Vice
