Wednesday, Dctober 18, 1967
party started out wi'fch cocktalls and
hors ďouveres, followed by a delicious
bcef barbccne and all the trímmings,
after which most of us enjoyed danc-
ing- to the Knights of Dixie nlusic.
Those of you who weren’t thére for
the Youth Variety Show really missed
a treat. The comical and musical num-
bers and the hilarious one-aet. comedy
were very good and enjoyed by all.
The whole program was planned by
the youth, with Neal Adamcik as M. C.
Joan Zalmanek was the director and
Ruthie Žaludek assistant director of
the One-aet play. I won’t rnention any
of the partittipants’ names, since theré
were many, nor will I telí about the
different acts, becau.se all were good!
It is getting closer and closer to that
wonderful dance when we get a chance
to see and hear that great musician,
Sammy Kaye, at the semi-formal
dance on Wednesday, Oct. 25th! Some
of the eommittee members telí me they
háve been asked if reservations rnust
be bought- for a whole table of 12. The
answer is “no,” for we also háve smál -
ler tables for two, four oř six, and
there also will he a stag table. So
whether you want a reservation for
one, two or more, tlie important thing
is to get them now before they are
sold!
I also want to remind all you mem-
bers that this Sunday we háve our
district meeting at Needville, at the
memoriál Halí. A delicious barbecu?
dinner will be served by Lodge 81, and
the business meeting will start at 1:30
p.m. The youth are going to put on a
program, a comical wedding, after the
meeting.
Sundav, Oet. 29tli. will be another
one of those speciál tíaýs at our lodge
for two one-aet C/ech plays will be
presented by our drama tic dub. It all
starts with a very good turkey dinner
served front 11 a.m. on, followed by the
Czech plays at 2 p.m., and a free dance
for all after the plays. All you good
cooks, the lodge will appreciate any
donations of pies , cakes and pastry.
This gaturday we háve a great dance
on our schedule, for v;e háve the
very popular Blumes of La Gra.nge
playing for a semi-formal dance! Do
get your friends together for an en-
joyable evening of dancing to good
rnusic in our beautiful ballroom.
NAMES IN THE NEWS: Ray Dixon
celebrated his birthday recently at
one of our dances. Our lodge Beseda
dancers are going to perform for the
installation ceremony of the Business
and Professional Grandmothers’ Club
of America, of which Mrs. Eula Martin
is president. A medal should go to Emil
Horelica v/ho saved the lives of two
men (a Mr. Borels and his relative)
while he and his family were visiting
in the Lakewood addition near Conroe.
Hearing eries of help they found two
older men clinging to an overturned
boat, and after much v/ork, Emil saveď
both of them! Rosa Lee Ruland surely
is artistic, for it is she who made the
beautiful money tree with which we
surprised Frank Dvorak. Several hun-
dred happy guests enjoyed the Knights
of Dixie dance of which Harlan Maresh
