A motion was made and carried that
the winner of the Miss SPJST con-
test be given $10 for first plače, $7.50
for runner-up and $5.00 for the re-
mainder oíf the contestants. There were
seven girls participating in the con-
test. They were as following: Sharon
Engelke, Lodge 66, first plače; Carol
Nesudá, Lodge 25, runner-up; Elaine
Tupý, Lodge 130; Barbara Brietkreutz,
Lodge 35; Barbara Ondrusek, Lodge
84; Ruthie Schuetz, Lodge 6; and An-
gela Paprskar from Lodge 92, Each
,girl had to make a five minuté speech
on “Fraternalism” and all the other
contestants were very good. Sharon is
the daughter of Brother and Sister
Benny Engelke, 1605 North 16th, Waco.
She will graduate in May from Reicher
High School, and will enroll in Dur-
ham Business College in June. At the
present time she is the Vice-President
of the Tccn Club at Lodge 66 and also
on tlie entertainment committee.
Sharon has won first plače in the
Merit Book Contest the past two years.
Congratulations to Sharon and good
Inek! She will represent District III
in the Miss SPJST Contest at the
íortheoming convention in June.
Another contestant of interest to
the youth will be the King and Queen
cont i cho i a i* ! u moun
of $250 will be the prize. The boy or
gírl chosen to represent their lodge as
King or Queen will háve to make a
speech on “Why It Is Important to
Háve a Youth Club.” At the Youth
Activity Day they will compctc on the
District level. The boy or girl repre-
senting each lodge as Durhess or Duke
will háve to make a speech on “Why I
Ani Proud to be a Youth Club Mem-
ber.” They will also eompete on the
District Level.
Directors of the Rest Home had a
pre-convention meeting and they háve
taken into consideration adding one
more wing to the SPJST Rest Home in
Taylor.
District III will go on reeorcl as fav-
oring the buikling of a Youth Camp
that would be centrally located. Also
mentioned on the floor was the possi-
bility of building a museum at Temple,
• in the SPJST building. This museum
would consist of originál items of
Czech descendants
New officers for SPJST District III
are as follows:

Jerry Milan — lst Vice-President
Rudy Zalman — 2nd Vice-President

The new officers were installed by
Brother Edward L. Marek.
The fall District III meeting will be
meld at Lodge 35, Eik, the dáte to be
announced later.
Brother Nesudá thanked Lodge 84 for
their hospitality and the good dinner
served by the sisters at Lodge 84.
There being no further business the
meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
