fan, watch ifor the dance dates and
mark them on your calendar and come
out. Furthermore, come out every Sat-
urday night; we háve some of the
best orchestr as in. this part of Texas
playing for our dances.
Friday night, May Ist, the Board of
Directors and the Entertainment Com-
rnittee each held their respective
meetings. There is a lot of work to
be doně these next few months, and
therefore we need any member who is
willing to help us with our project. By
this we are referring to the grand
opening celebration of our new Lodge
Halí on 1435 Beall, which is scheduled
sometime this fall. If you would like to
donate your Services in any way, con-
tact eifher President Tim Kostom or
Entertainment Committee Chairman
Brother Harley Cox. They will be
happy to accept your fraternal assis-
tance.
Jimmy Kadlecek, journalism junior
and “Houstonian” associate editor,
was elected editor o i the 1S65 year-
book by the Student Publications
Board at the University of Houston.
Jimmy, son of Brother and Sister' Amos
and Della. Kadlecek, is a member of
Lodge 88 and has been very active
in the Youth Club. Congratulations
Jimmy.
Once again Lodge 88 is proud of the
Dramatie Club “Hlahol” for their
magnificent performance of another
one of their řine operetta plays
“Zmokla Slepice,” which was presented
here on Sunday afternoon, May 3rd.
This Czech Club is the oldest of its
kind in existence that we know of in
Texas, so if you will pardon us, thaťs
why we are so proud of all these faith-
ful actors and actresses. We had a
good attendance and the response and
applause at curtain time was music
to all the members of the cast.
The scene of the play was in a
laundry owned by Brother Rudy Bel-
cik who also had a beautiful daughter',
played by Sister Birdie Hilsher. She
was the apple of the eyes of the laun-
dry helper Pepa, played by Brother
Tim Kostom, and the milkman, Tonik,
played by Johnny Sula. They all tried
to win her hand with song and music.
Then, all of a sudden, Franta Nepil,
played by Emon Kouba, delivers a spe-
ciál delivery letter from an old friend
of Brother Sefcik It was from Damou
David, played b'y Karel Matějka, and
his son Celestyn, played by Jan ,Seh-
roiflf.
They introduce themselves in a song
which also explains the term “Zmokla
Slepice.” Damon is trying to escape
VĚSTNÍK
from Frony, played by none other than
Mary Johnson, who did such a won-
derful job. She brings her beautiful
daughter Markytka, played by Wil-
mina Simicek who in, turn falls for
Clestyn (Jan Schroiff). It ended with
comedy and song and then everyone is
happy.
Thanks again to the Dramatie Club,
the musical directors. assistant Broth-
er J. Pokorný, Sister Naomi Kostom,
and prompter Sister Frances Olexa.
Mír. Ed Zálesák and Charles Kučera
and another gentleman whose name
we failed to get provided music be~
tween aets and also for the free dance
that followed the play. Many thanks to
these fine gentlemen.
We wish to remind all the members,
that on Sunday, March 17, 1964, the
District Pivě Spring meeting will be

activities; also a delicious dinner and
