Yvonne Jansen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Jansen, has been named the
1973 valedictorian of Thrall High
School with an average of 95.08.
Yvonneí has been a member of the
high school marching band for six
years, serving as librarian her sopho- |
more and junior years and reportér her f
senior year. She has been a member
of the FHA four years. She has partici-
pated in UIL events all four years, í i
placing second in Persuasive Speaking M
this year. Yvonne has played basket-§|
balí four years, receiving honorable||
mention in districfc her senior year:M
volleyball for four years, track four

years, going to statě her sophomore
year in the mile relay, and in tennis
one year.
Yvonne was elected twirler her soph-
omore and junior years, and druin
major her senior year. Her freshman
year she served as class. reportér and
her junior and senior years as class
treasurer. Yvonne was elected a class
favorite her junior and senior years.
She is feature editor of the school
páper. Yvonne reeeived the junior Eng-
lish award, Sociál Science award, Most
Athletie Girl award, and Valedictorian
award and trophy.
Yvonne plans to enter the Univer-
sity of Texas at Austin in the fall.
She plans to major in Secondary Edu-
cation in math.
Yvonne and her parents are mem-
bers of Lodge 29, Taylor,

CLARENCE A. KAHANEK
Clarence Alvin Kahanek; graduated
from El Campo High School on May
25,: 1973. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Kahanek. During his school
year he played baseball for the El
Campo Ricebirds. He was a eharter
member of the Taiton„ Youth Club. He
served 2 years as president of the
youth elub and 2 years as a reportér of
the youth club.

REVIVED LODGE NO, 74 LOVELADY
FINALIZFS PLANS FOR OPENING
AND DEDICATION
The new lodge home of SPJST Lodge
No. 74, Lovelady, (Borový Haj) is near-
ing completion, according to R. J.
Hafner, president of the lodge and
contractor for the construction. Plans
were completed recentlv for the opon-
ing of the halí.
The opening of the halí is planned for
July 4, and the formal opening and
dedication is scheduled for Sunday,
September 2, preceding Labor Day
Monday.
On Wednesday, July 4th, the doors
of the new lodge home will opon at
12 noon. A meal will be served from
2 to 5 p.m., eonsisting of Czech sau-
sage, barbecue beef, beans, potato
for adults and $0.75 for children under
12. Visiting dignitarios will be re-
cognizecl at approximately 3 p.m., fol-
io wed by a dancing hour from 4 to 5
to a local band. A youth program is
planned from 5 to 0, followed by a
performance by the Larvy Pridgen
Square Dancers of Crockett at 8. The
hour from 7 to 8 p.m. is for generál
relaxation and socializing and for the
purchase of tickets for the dance,
which gets under way at 8 p.m, There
will also be gamcs and prizes during
the entire afternoon sponsored by the
youth club and operated by them.
SPJST members from around the
statě are being asked to attend both
dates in their Czech costumes because
of the festive occasion.
Big plans are also being made for the
formal opening and dedication on
September 2.. These will again in-
clude the same type meal served on
July 4th, plus the appearance of more
Czech costumes, plus some other spec-
iál attractions, and short speeches by
Supreme Lodge officials. Additibnal
Information on the formal opening on
September 2 will be published in the
Vestnik before that dáte.
The new lodge building of Lodge 74
is located on Highway 19, midway bet-
ween Crockett and Lovelady. (Please
refer to sketch which apcompanies
this report). Total cost of the strne-
ture exceeds $70,000 and it contains
over 8,000 square feet of floor space.
The 4.8 acres of land on which the
lodge is located was donated through
the generosity of Brother R.J. Hafner,
the lodge president, In addition to
