Recently your editor, while
glancing through the comic pages,
came upon “Beetle Bailey” and saw
[the One-Star General reading a
“Memorandum” he had received.
The first seven frames contained the
message and the last picture showed
what the General was thinking. “If
you’re looking for an ending to all
this, there isn*t any." Fm sure Mr.
Mort Walker, the author, will not
mind my reprinting the article. As
you read remember that all that had
to be said was: “The correspon-
dence, inclusive of attachments
thereto, to the Secretary or Deputy
Secretary of Defense will be of
uniform size.” It brought back
memories of when I was a first
sergeant in the army in World War
II when the captain and I would
wonder about such “gobbledygook”
and how much time was spent
composing and deciphering it, in
many companies plus the armed
Services.
