Correct Minutes]
The Finance Committee met on
January 27, 1990, at the Home Office,
Temple, Texas in compliance with
Article 25 of the By - Laws.
The meeting was called to order by
Chairman Monta Foster, District VII.
Larry Laznovsky, District III, was
welcomed as a new member to the
committee. Other members present
were Vice Chairman Ernest Wentrcek,
Sr., District I; Lillian Holubec, District
IV; Alvin Sefcik, District V and
Secretary Rita Vaněk, District VI.
Chairman Foster welcomed the
Supreme Lodge officers to the
meeting. Officers present were
President Howard Leshikar, Vice
President Bernie Gebala, Secretary -
Treasury Leonard Mikeska, Financial
Secretary Jerry Mikuláš, Legal
Advisor Sidney Kacir and Editor Rudy
Sefcik.
A very informative question - and -
answer ses sion on various topics was
held. Reports and inputs to the
committee from those in attendance
were of great value and very
enlightening. Committee members
wish to thank the officers and editor
for the time they gave to this meeting.
We feel the Society is in a strong
financial position even though certain
negative trends háve appeared in the
SPJST as well as in the insurance
industry as a whole.
Actions and recommendations
discussed to correct these negative
trends and to plače the SPJST in a
relatively stronger financial position in
the industry are forthcoming from the
Supreme Lodge to the membership.
These actions and recommendations
will receive full support from this
committee.
The Employee Retirement Pension
Pian was reviewed with certain
recommendations made to the
Supreme Lodge for their approval.

Czechoslovakia
Plans are being made to háve a
guided tour to Czechoslovakia. We
háve received a very favorable price
and wOuld li ke to háve a count of how
many members would be interested in
going on this tour. We need a reply by
April lst if you would be interested in

Lodge No. 84, Dallas
Dear Members:
Please read the first paragraph for
previously Computer - omitted lineš.
On the weekend of March 17 -18
Lodge 84 will celebrate its 80th
Anniversary! We háve a dance
scheduled for March 17 beginning at
8:30 p.m. with the Czech Harvesters
providing the music. Speciál Feature
will be a polka and waltz contest, with
announcemenť of the winners to be
revealed at the dinner on Sunday,
March 18th. Sunday, March 18, the
doors of Lodge 84 will open for the
Anniversary Dinner, which will be
served from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m.
Roast beef, mushroom gravy, parsley
potatoes, green beans, salad, bread,
and coffee or tea will be on the menu
and the cost is $6 for adults and $3 for
children. We will háve a guest
speaker, a Dr, Ladislav T. Novák a
professor at S.M.U., selections by the
Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra and a
memoriál Service in remembrance of
our dearly - departed members;
awards of “Brother and Sister of the
Year,” 50 - year pins, “Fraternalist of
the Year;” and will end with a
program by the Junior and Teen
Clubs. The meal will be catered by
Bessie’s Wedding and Catering
Service, soyou won’t want to miss out.
Ais o, our young people háve always
provided an enjoyable program, each
one better than the last, so come and
pian to spend the day. You won’t be
sorry!

District V Meeting -
March 11,1990
Iťs time for us to remind everyone
that District V will hold its annual
business meeting on Sunday, March
11, 1990 at Lodge No. 142, 5508 Nolda,
Houston. Be sure to mark your
calendar and pian to attend. We look
forward to a great turnout.
The meal will consisť of barbecue
brisket with all the good trimmings --
potatoes, green beans and cole slaw;
the price will be $4.50 for adults and
$2.50 for children under 12. Coffee
and tea will ais o be included.
We are going to request that anýone
wishing to donate a dessert, do so - -
pie, cake or your favorite. The dessert
will not be charged for extra, but
rather than háve Lodge No. 142 make
all the donations, the committee
suggested that we all bring something
to share.
Registration will begin around 11:30
a.m. and Lodge No. 142 trustees pian
to háve the meal ready for those who
would like to eat at that time, but free
beer will not begin until 12:00 noon. It
will be served until meeting time at 1:30
p.m. During the free beer time, soft
drínks will be available for those who
prefer them and for the children.
Entertainment before the meeting
vvill be singing by Lodge No. 88 Chorál
Group and after the meeting, Lodge
No. 88 Czech Concert Orchestra will
provide music for dancing.
The meeting agenda will include the
usual items of business such as
memoriál service, electing officers,
officers’ reports, honoring 50 - year
pin recipients, Fraternalists of the
Year from all District V lodges as well
as State Fraternalist of the Year
Brother Alvin Sefcik of Lodge No. 172,
Pasadena.
The District V officers met during
the year for the purpose of proposing
some minor Rules and Regulaíions
changes and these recommendations
will be presented to the membership
for consideration and change.
At this meeting, the youth club
would like for you to participate in a
project to raise funds for District V.
Please bring a can or some sort of hon
- perishable food items to be put in
sacks for a drawing; all donated funds
for this purpose will be presented to
District V treasury.
In addition to this, of course, there
will be dooř prizes donated by District
V and any others who wish to make a
dooř prize donation; this can be money
or some nice item you’d like to pass on
to someone else.
We are looking forward to seeing
you at LODGE NO. 142 ON MARCH
11TH. This is a speciál time of
fellowship with one another and a time
for visiting with friends you don’t get
to see often. Do come and participate
in our meeting.

Dear Members:
Our lodge met Sunday, February
11, 1990 at Mr. Gattťs. President
Annie Vahalik called the meeting to
order, followed by the pledge to the
flag led by Flag Bearer Janell Chudej.
A Resolution of Sympathy was read
for our departed member, Willie
Pas tucha, by Janell Chudej,
Corresponding Secretary Erwin
Holý read the minutes to the last
meeting which were approved.
Correspondence followed.
Joe Janský, our lodge member, will
be 96 years young in March and will
háve outlived his policy. It was
decided by the members present to
honor Mr. Janský at one of our
meetings.
It was announced that the Officers’
Workshop will be held Saturday,
February 24 at Lodge 24, Cyólone.
Several officers are planning to
attend.
Treasurer Helen Zabranský read
her report and Co - youth Leader
Evelyn Holý and Gaynell Chudej
reported.
FAC Gaye Galetka handed out
fraternal activities individual report
sheets for the members.
The meeting adjourned. Nicholas
Vahalik sang a Valentine song.
The members present with a
birthday in January, February and
March were Elsie Mascheck, Gaynell
Chudej and Ida Neubauer. Winner of
the birthday cake was Gaynell Chudej.
Valentine dooř prize winners were
Janell Chudej and Elizabeth Vahalik.
Refreshments and lunch were served
and enjoyed.
Our next meeting will be Sunday,
March llth at Mr. Gatti’s, beginning
at 2 p.m, as usual.

Dear Members:
Hello! President Ernest Haskovec
called our February meeting to order
on February 8 at 8:50 p.m,
Brother Kenneth Honza led us in
the pledge to the flag.
Sister Pat Fowler read the minutes
from our previous meeting and they
were then approved.
We would like to welcome the Ennis
Sewing Circle to our meeting room.
They háve started meeting here every
second Thursday morning due to the
burning of Sokol and Lodge No. 135.
Sister Margaret Krajca and Sister
Kaye Lynn Kovar gave the
membership their reports.
We would like to wish a get well
soon to Sister Anně Martinek. Brother
Charlie Trojacek and ais o to Brother
and Sister Frank and Albina Gurecky.
We hope that you are all doing well.
Congratulaíions to Brother Johnnie
I. Krajca; Brother Johnnie was a
Million Dollar producer for the 1989
Year.
We would also like to recognize four
members of our lodge for receiving the
50 - year membership pins. These
recipients are Albina Gurecky, Clara
Vavra, Viola Pierce and Louis J.
Hroza, Jr.
We had a very good turnout at our
covered dish supper. Our speaker
spoke about planting and caring for
pecan trees.
Just a reminder: The Ennis Polka
Festival is just around the corner; May
5th and 6th. I hope you will all pian to
attend this year.
I háve two more reminders for
upcoming events: March 30 - we will
be having The Sulak Brothers’ Polka
Band who will be playing from 8:30
p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; also Vrazels will be
playing on March 3lst. I hope you all
can attend.
We will be sending two lodge
representatives to the Tarok
