Something Věry Speciál
This past Sunday, oť course, was Easter.
It was a beautiful day in most parts of the
statě, providing individuals and families
the opportunity to enjoy many traditiona!
Easter observances, such as sunrise Ser-
vices, Easter egg hunts and big Easter din-
ners. For others. the day oťfered time for
reflection, including visits to the cemetery
to rememher and pay respects to loved
ones. In our čase, the trip induded a visit
to the old section oť the local cemetery
where many oť the weathered inseriptions
were in the Czech language. It was inter-
esting to notě that several oť these old
markers also pictured the SPJST stár and
identiťied the membeťs local lodge. My
mother was with me and we talked ahout
that ťor a long time. Membership in the
SPJST and the local lodge was very spe-
ciál to these people ... They took pride in
their membership for it symbolized some-
thing about their character and their desire
to make things better for their families and
communities.
1 appreciate the wisdom of our SPJST
founding ťaíhers. Thev established an
organization that provided as much for
the future as it did for their day. By pro-
viding life insurance as a dominant fea-
ture, they established a valuable financial
Service for members. At the same time,
they recognized the value of fraternalism.
That explains the SPJST’s lorg history
and devotion to projects related to ťamily,
community and country.
Even though the times háve changed,
the SPJST continues to provide speciál
meaning to members’ li ves. Fraternalism
— like optimism — is an attitude. Iťs a
positive way of looking at life. A positive
and people-oriented way of doing busi-
ness. Read any typicai issue of the
Věstník and you’11 see how our lodges and
lodge members are working to promote
togetherness, build financial security and
inject vitality into their communities.
Just as when the SPJST was estab-
lished in 1897, maintaining and building
a Society ťor the future is an exciting and
thrilling experience with the potential for
great rewards. It is an experience that
puts new membership on the books and
new life into our lodges routine exis-
tence. It is worth the trials and tribula-
tions, the frustrations, anxieties, and
demands of energy and time. The SPJST
has an abundance of talented members to
carry on the work that the pioneers and
leaders of our fraternal society started.
By working together in the spirit of
brotherhood, we will achieve new
heights as a fraternal benefit society in
1996 and bevond.

It Pays to Be Prepared
Just like farming, the game of life is
dictated by the rules of nátuře. You never
really know what to expect. Bearing that
in mind, the best time to purchase life
insurance is when you are able-bodied
and can purchase a good amount of cov-
erage for a reasonable price. Seen in its
proper perspective, an SPJST life insur-
ance certificate is a financial planning
tool that can help your family achieve
financial security under a variety oť
uncertain future conditions.
Young men and women are especially
encouraged to examine their future needs.
They will find that they can purchase
more protection for their money today
than if they wait to buy in later years.
Older members, too, will want to talk
with their local sales representatives
about SPJST’s Senior Life program and
SPJST annuities which are available to
them.
For more information on SPJST life
insurance and other products, please con-
tact your local lodge sales representative.
If you aretvt sure who to contact, please
call the Insurance Department at 1 (800)
72 - SPJST and they will háve a sales rep-
resentative in your area contact you.

Let Them Know You Care ...
The time we háve on this earth to
devote to our family, friends and fraternal
order is so short. Too short for feuding
and too short to enjoy all that life has to
offer. That thought in mind, may we také
every opportunity in the coming weeks
and months to show our family and
friends that we love them and devote just
a little extra attention to the maintenance
and support of our local lodges. It will be
time well spent...
Give Them the Flowers Now
dosed eyes can ’t see the white roses.
Cold hands can ’t hold them,
you know,
Breath that is still eannot gather
The odors that sweetfrom them blows,
Death, with a peace beyond dreaming,
Its children of earth doth endow;
Life is the time we can help them,
So give them the flowers now!
Just a kind word or a greeting;
Just a warm grasp or a smile —
These are the flowers that will lighten
The burdens for many a mile.
After the journey is over
What is the use of them; how can
they carty them who must be carried?
Oh, give them the flowers now!
