Czech Texas. Of speciál interest is the
book’s concluding section, “Into the Old
Country.” Gallup began working as a
photojournalisí in Prague after finishing

some of the Texas Czechs as they traveled
through the newiy opened borders of
Czechoslovakia to search for their family

for the holidays
Dear Věstník Readers,
Iťs been a long time since I’ve
written so I figured í’d write and let
everyone know how I am doing.
Georgia weather is much different
than Texas weather. During the sum-
mer, it is was very humid, and now it
is cool in the mornings and gets
warmer through the day.
Fve been very busy lately. We’ve
spent a lot of time out in the field
learning and training. Time flies by
when I am out there, though. Right
now, we are cleaning our Bradleys
(M2A2 ODS—Operation Desert
Storm) inside and out. They are
going to be on display at our
Battalion Balí which is on November
20, 1998.
I guess Fll go home and find a job
until my truck is paid off, then Fll go
to college. I was accepted to ACC
(Austin Community College).
I was supposed to go to Jordán
from November 1, 1998 through
November 14, 1998, but at the last
minuté, the trip was cancelled. I was
very disappointed because I wanted
to see what it was like there. Enough
about the Army.
I get Christmas leave from
December 18, 1998 through January
3, 1998. I am looking forward to
“l’ve been busy lately,” reports
James Svetlik, adding that he is
looking forward to being home for
the holidays.
going home and seeing everyone.
The last time I was home was in July.
My sister, Julie Ann Svetlik, mar-
ried Kenneth Stock on Sepíember 26,
1998. They reside in Austin. I was
unable to attend the wedding, but I
heard it was very nice, and all went
well. I wish them all the luck in the
world.
Well, until I see everyone again, í
miss everyone from Lodge 4,
Hallettsville and Distríct Six, SPJST.
Fraternalíy yours,
James D. Svetlik
