CB-License Refunds. As a result of a
1976 federal-court decision, an estimated
1 million citizens’-band and ham-radio
buffs who paid $20 apiece for their
radio-license fees between Aug. 1, 1970,
and Feb. 28, 1975, can now get a refund
of .$17,99 each from the Federal
Communications Commission. The court
ruled that the FCC could charge no more
for the fees than it actually cost to
process the license requests and ordered
the agency to refund the excess sums
collected between 1970 and 1975. Finál
implementation of the ruling had been
delayed by red tápe until now. To receive
a refund, one must obtain a form by
visiting or writing any of 30 FCC field
offices nationwide or by writing FCC
headquarters at P.O, Box 19209,
Washington, D.C. 20036. For more
