guishers and the air conditioner was
repaired. The fan that went bad wili be
replaced.

donations sent in.
Bossier City Trip is September 18
Well, iťs finai—the trip to Bossier
City, Louisiana, is September 18 with the
bus leaving the iodge at 6:30 a.m. and
ieaving Boosier City at 6:30 p.m. The
deadline to reserve a seat on the bus is
Fridaý, September 13. Remember all that
fun coming and going last year? If not,
call Wanda Petr at 352-4397. She will
refresh any memories of the day that háve
escaped as well as details for this trip.
President Yeager reported on the
Heritage Day at the Texas State Fair which
will be celebrated at the Halí of State. She
promised more Information as it reaches
her and the planning committee.
Remember on September 7, the Jody
Mikula Band plays here from 8:30 p.m.
to 12:30 a.m. The day following
(Sunday) is our Czech Fest. Doors open
at 11:30 a.m. with a Czech dinner catered
by Bessie’s Catering starting at 12:30
p.m. The dinner will consist of roast
pork, buttered potatoes, green beans,
saurkraut, salad, pastry, roils, coťfee or
tea. The pastry will be donated by Iodge
members. We ask for their favorite to be
brought so it is sure to please and we
thank them.
Keep in mind that donations for this
ťund raiser are appreciated. Come for
dinner and stay for games, the cake walk,
country store, giťt booth, etc. Then from
3 to 6 p.m., enjoy the Vaněk Czech Band.
It is a free dance, so ask your ťriends to
join you here.

Report on
August Meeting
The meeting was called to order by
President Kathy Trefell.
Minutes of the last meeting were read
with one correction and approved.
The treasurer Lowrina Lindemann
gave her report.
Sunshine Chairman Mary Kosut gave
her report. Thanks, Mary, for a wonder-
ful job.
Since the city has.cracked down on
organizations selling pies and cakes to the
public, we cannot bring in these wonder-
ful pastries from the SPJST membership
for Czech Day observance. These were
all donated, but we will háve to buy them
from a wholesaler, cutting down on our
profits. Thereťore, Flo Orsag will be at
the September lodge meeting to collect
donations for this purpose. See if you
can '‘dig deep” and help us out.
Workers in the kitchen this week were
Edna Froehlich and Margaret Spahr.

Annual Czech Day
Celebration
Sunday, October 27
The Lodge 88 Czech Day will háve a
new formát for the day’s celebration. We
will kick oťť the day by opening the fes-
tivities at 11 a.m. with Czech and
American National Anthems sung by
Helen Hegwood and Fred Buri, accompa-
nied by Donna Merkle; introduction of
State and District Five Royalty Queen
Karen Bender and King Justin Miller and
the performance of Lodge 88 Chorál
Club and Concert Orchestra.
Dinner, beginning at JI a.m., will con-
sist of our famous turkey, dressing and
the usual trimmings. Pastries will also be
available.
For the dancers, there will be a free
dance in the ballroom all afternoon. At 1
p.m., Bobby Homes Polka Band will pro-
vide the music until 4:30 p.m. At 5 p.m.,
there will be a grand march, instead of the
usual Parade of Costumes, with music by
the Vrazels until 9 p.m.
We are not discouraging those who
like to wear their Czech costumes from
wearing them but instead by having the
Grand March, this will enable everyone
to participate. In the past, fewer people
were wearing their costumes and the
parade of costumes. has become very
smáli.
For the outdoor activities, we pian to
háve many more and a variety of raťťles
and games for the entire family.
Make your plans to join us on October
27 for a fun-filled day.

Presents August 12
Meeting Minutes
Aťter ribbon cutting ceremonies to
open the new building, President Clara
Brož opened the meeting at 7:40 with
Raymond Krampota and Sydney Jurchak
presenting the colors and leading the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes were read and approved.
Correspondence consisted of a letter from
the Home Office stating that a cookbook
was being compiled for the lOOth
Anniversary of the SPJST and asking for
recipes.
Officers’ Reports
President Brož thanked Willie
Wehring for all his hard work on the new
building. She announced plans for Czech
Day and stated that help was needed and
please say yes when called upon to help.
Nominations for Fraternalist of the Year
will be at the September meeting. Susan
Kelly, Melanie Spies, and Lawrence
Mock were initiated by President Brož
with First Vice President Marie Stayton
reading the charge and a brieť history of
the SPJST.
First Vice President Marie Stayton
thanked the flag bearers and asked the
Remuneration Committee to také next
month’s Flag Ceremonies. After reading
from the Rules and Regulations, Duties
of Members, she asked all members to
volunteer their time.

returned by November I. The statě vol-
leybail tournament will be November 16
in Temple. Registration is due by
November 8. Thanks to all who donated
clothes and glasses. The next AARP
Deťensive Driving Course is scheduled
for September 5 and 6.
The youth leader s report was given
by Mariam Zalesky. She announced the
winners at State YAD and thanked all
who attended. She also thanked all who
supported the youth on Thursday nights.
Committee Reports
Entertainment Chairperson Donna
Merkel announced Leo Majek playing
August 25 and the Youth Club will serve
hamburgers. Country and western dances
are improving and the policy of 16 and
under is still in eťťect until the end of the
year. Donna announced she will not seek
reelection next year and promised to
share information to whoever accepts the
position.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Willie Wehring reported that the bar will
now serve bottled water. The board had
been approached for a donation to the
H.E. Butt Camp. Jeanette Bender was
called to give more information about the
needs of the camp. A motion was made
for a cash donation to be given to H.E.
Butt Camp. The motion carried.
Pool Chairman A.J. Stayton reported
the pool will close on September 2.
Bobby Allbritton reported a Workers’
Party is scheduled for Sunday, September
29.
Kathy Trefell of the Birthday Club
announced the business meeting will be
held Wednesday to discuss plans for pas-
tries at Czech Day. Tom Marsh of the
Men s Club reported a successťul work
day and their project for Czech Day will
be the Fiesta Dinner scheduled for
September 23. Mary Kosův presented the
