Expression
of Sympathy
The members of Lodge 26, Skidmore
wish to express their sympathy to the
family of our departed member,
LOUISE E.
(MACHA) HANUŠ,
age 88 of Skidmore. Mrs. Hanuš passed
away Thursday, October 30, 2003. She
was bom on September 17, 1915 in
Cuero, Texas to Joe and Annie Mary
(Kalich) Macha. She married Henry
Hanuš on June 14, 1943 in Cuero. She
had been a resident of the Olmos
Community since 1944. She was a
homemaker. She was a member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Beeville, the
Altar Society, A.A.R.P., A.A.R.P.
Kitchen, and SPJST Lodge 26,
Skidmore. She loved to play games of
cards and dominoes which she played at
the Senior Citizen’s Center in Beeville of
which she was a member. She also
played dominoes at the Faith Lutheran
Church Goldenagers Group once a
month. She was a great cook, and a good
gardener and seamstress. She loved to
can her garden products. Louise was a
quiet person and a good Christian.
She was preceded in death by her par-
ents; her husband who died on January
26,1977; and sisters, Stelle Trlica and
Edna Hanuš.
Survivors include daughters, Mary
Ann McGuill and husbánd Dan; and
Norma Dittlinger and husband, Jerry, all
of Richmond, Texas; son, Joe Henry
Hanuš and wife, Vicki of Beeville; five
grandchildren; Danny Mcguill and
Fiancee Lesley, Gregory Dittlinger,
Patrick Dittlinger and wife, Lea, Jarrett
Hanuš, Erin Huff and husband, Jason;
great-grandchild, Tucker Huff; sisters,
Leona Sumbera and husband, George of
Victoria and Paulině Nesloney and hus-
band, Bernard of Corpus Christi; brother,
W.J. Macha and wife, Elrose of Yoakum;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Friday, October 31
from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Gallaway and
Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville.
Rosary was held Saturday, November 1
at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic
Church. Funeral mass followed at 2 p.m.
at the same location with Father Patrick
Donohoe officiating. Burial followed in
St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny McGuill,
Gregory Dittlinger, Patrick Dittlinger,
Jarrett Hanuš, Charles Trlica, and Gerald
Trlica. Honoráry pallbearers were Erin
Huff, Jason Huff, Lee Dittlinger, and
Lesley Gonzales.
The members at Lodge 26 miss our
dear friend and may our departed sister.
May she rest in etemal peace.

In Memory
of Hortense Faigle
Hortense Annie Maiinak Faigle,
85, longtime Houston resident, passed
away peacefully on December 13,2003.
Bom in La Grange, Texas on September
15,1917, Hortense was one of nine chil-
dren of Mary Katherine and Joseph
Maiinak. Hortense grew up in Houston
and graduated from Reagan High
School in 1935. She married Charles J.
Faigle, Sr. in 1939, and they resided in
northwest Houston until 1978. She
most recently resided in Waller.
Hortense was a lifelong member of
SPJST Lodge 88, Houston, and a char-
ter member and past corresponding sec-
retary of WFLA Lodge 428.
She was preceded in death by her
husband of 53 years; se ven brothers and
sisters; and one grandson.
Survivors include son, Charles
Faigle, Jr. and wife, Patricia of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, son, Jerry Faigle; daughter,
Mary Ann Minto and husband, Bili of
Austin; sister, Johnnie Loessin and hus-
band, Lawrence of Weimar; and numer-
ous dear grandchildren, great-grandchil-
dren, nieces, and nephews.
The family received friends on
Monday, December 15 from 6 to 8:30
p.m. at Heights Funeral Home. Funeral
Service was held on Tuesday, December
16 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Heights
Funeral Home. Interment followed at
Holý Cross Cemetery. Immediateiy
afterward was a reception at Sokol Halí.

Lodge 40, El Campo-Hillje wishes
to express its sympathy to the family
and friends of
EDMUND MARTIN CHAKA,
84, of Wharton who died Saturday,
January 10, 2004.
He was bom May 30, 1919 in
Louise, to the latě Frank J. and Francis
A. Trojcak Chaka. He was a veterán of
World War II and lifetime member of
the Knights of Columbus and SPJST.
He was also a member of St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Boling. He was a
retired timekeeper for Texas Gulf
Sulphur Co. with 37 years of Service.
He served on the Troop Committee for
the Boy Scouts of America Troop 123
in Boling.
Survivors are sons, Jim R. Chaka of
Austin, Ron Chaka of Wharton, Sid
Chaka of Katy, and Thomas Chaka of
Richmond; sister, Lillian Hansen of El
Campo; se ven grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife,
Zora Doris Klatt Chaka; and one
brother.
Visitation was held at Wharton
Funeral Home Chapel followed by a
rosary. Services were held at 11 a.m.,
Wednesday, January 14 at St. Phillips
Catholic Church in El Campo. Burial
was at Holý Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Wharton Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church, c/o Holý
Family Catholic Church, 2011 Briar
Lané, Wharton, Texas 77488.
