FROM THE SUPREME LODGE CHAIRMAN
SPJSTs 2009 Focus:
Quality and Growth from Within
Dear Members,
As all of you are very much aware
of the conditions of the American and
World economies, we, as well as all
fraternals and corporations every-
where are
faced with
many chal-
lenges to han-
dle the erisis.
Conditions as
they are today
háve not been
faced by most
of us in our last
several genera-
tions. As a re-
sult, we háve had to make many
changes and adjustments in the way
we are doing things. SPJST is no dif-
ferent and as a result, you can expect
to see many changes in the way we
will provide for our membership to
address the worldly situation.
If history repeats itself, we will be
fine as all fraternals that survived the
Great Depression of the 1930s. The
fraternal systém was able to survive
because of the dedicated and loyal
membership who believed in the sys-
tém and did not panic because frater-
nals were and, in most cases still are,
the strongest and soundest of all in the
business world. We háve always been
a conservative and quality demanding
organization, and this focus has not
changed.
However, to get in tuně with other
fraternals and corporations, we must
make euts in expenses and in several
areas in which we háve been very gen-
erous to our membership in the past.
This will be reflected in the incentive
program slated for 2009. Quality and
growth from within our existing mem-
bership and their families will be the
key driving force behind all of our
sales ventures in the future.
Our investment portfolio is being
repositioned to be in line with industry
standards and percentages placing us
in a better position to make up some
of the losses when the market re-
bounds and we, as a nation, are back
on the road to recovery. Our surplus
and net gain from operation will be ef-
fected because of the dire condition of
our present American markets. Be-
cause of our conservative and deliber-
ate philosophy of doing business in the
past, we are fortunate to háve a sub-
stantial surplus to give us a cushion
during times like these. Our Secre-
tary/Treasurer and our investment
consultant are committed to making
the best decisions and choices in the
best interest of SPJST.
We, as directors, promise this same
commitment and dedication to stay
abreast of the situation and will work
very closely with our officers to ensure
that the future of SPJST is a top prior-
ity for all of us and our membership.
We ask for your continued support and
loyalty in your commitment to SPJST
and we, together, will weather this
storm and emerge as a leader among
fraternals. We need members like you
to continue to believe that we will al-
ways do what is best for the entire So-
ciety to ensure continued success.
With your support, this will be ac-
complished.
Fratemally,
Donnie Victorick
Supreme Lodge Chairman
