New Prescription Drug Service
Píease direct your atteníion to the arti-
cle which appears on page three under the
Secretáry-Treasureťs heading, “SPJST
Announces Prescription Drug Program
for AI i Certificate Holders.” This is
something totally new for the SPJST. Iťs
another way of bringing value to your
membership in the Society.
The discount prescription Service is
being provided through Scott & White
Express Home Prescription Services,
which is based in Temple, Texas. The
program is affiliated with Scott & White
Memoriál Hospitai and Clinic, which has
often been cited as “one of the top ten
medical facilities in
the country.”
Secretary-Treas-
urer Anglin, whose
department is respon-
sible for administer-
ing the SPJSTs hos-
pital pian, was pri-
marily responsible for
establishing the new
program with Scott &
White and will over-
see its implementa-
tion.
“Iťs a program
that has worked well
with other groups,” ZmmSmSmSmmSSSmm
explains Sister
Anglin. “We hope it will benefit our
members as well,” she said.
The feeling is mutual.
To grow and prosper, we must contin-
ually look for new and better ways to
serve our members. In today’s world,
innovation is an important part of cus-
tomer Service. When we dare to dream,
we discover new ways to bring value to
membership in the SPJST.
Píease look to the Věstník in the Corn-
ing weeks for additional ínformation on
the new Prescription Drug Service.

Here’s to Mother
Motheťs Day is this coming Sunday,
May 14. The credit for inspiring this
national day of tribute goes to Miss
Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
In the early 1900’s,
shortly after her
mother’s death, Miss
Jarvis was asked to
arrange a speciál
memoriál Service in
the Virginia church
that her mother had
attended. Realizing
the universa! beauty
of the idea, Miss
Jarvis brought her
idea to the attention
of the church com-
munity in Philadel-
phia where she lived.
On the second
Sunday in May, 1908, the churches of
that city observed their first Motheťs
Day Services. These Services were so
widely acclaimed that Anna Jarvis quiet-
ly campaigned for a nationwide obser-
vance. Through her persuasion, Senátor
Burkett of Nebraska introduced into
Congress a bili designating the second
Sunday in May—the day on which Mrs.
Jarvis was born—as a national Mother’s
Day. In May, 1914, the bili passed and
President Woodrow Wilson signed the
bili making it law.
With love and appreciation, here’s to
mothers everywhere:
The Faces of Motherhood
Motherhood has many faces
Fashioned by the Lord above,
Filling near and distantplaces
With His handiwork of love.
Some are white, and some are yellow,
Some are black, and some are brown,
Some are stern, and some are mellow,
Granite hard, or soft as down.
Some are fragile, fair as laces,
Warm and gently mild as May;
Some are Hned and worn with traces
Of defeat along life’s way.
Some are gay with all the gladness
Of the springtime in the land;
Some are shadowed with a sadness
Only mothers understand.
But like stars above the willow,
Every mother looks the same,
Bending over baby’s pillow,
Softly whispering its name.
