SPJST Announces Prescription
Drug Program for All Certificate Holders
DearMembers,
Prescription drugs háve become a part
of life for many of us. There has not
been another area in health care that has
had a greater effect in the improvement
in quality of life and the treatment of dis-
ease. Unfortunately, research for the
development of new medications is
expensive and the cost of prescriptions
has shown a large
increase over the last
twenty years. With
this in mind, SPJST
and Scott & White
Prescription
Services, a division
of the Scott & White
Health Pian, háve
teamed up to offer an
alternativě in the pur-
chase of prescription
medicines. The
majority of medi-
cines that are pre-
scribed are long term
(maintenance) med-
ications. This group
of medicines may include treatments for
high blood pressure, asthma, cholesterol
control, hormone therapy, and many
other conditions. If you are currently tak-
ing a maintenance medication, Scott &
White Prescription Services offers a con-
venient, lower cost alternativě.
Starting June 5, 1995, Scott & White
Express Home Prescription Services, the
mail order division of Scott & White
Prescription Services, will begin to offer
prescription Service to SPJST certificate
holders and mail maintenance medica-
tions directly to their home. A common
question concerns the safety of mail order.
Scott & White Express Home Prescription
Services triple checks every prescription
for accuracy and then mails the order in
an unmarked envelope. Routine prescrip-
tions are filled within one business day of
their receipt and are normally received by
the patient within two to four working
days within the State of Texas. Another
common question
concerns the avail-
ability of over-the-
counter (OTC) prod-
ucts such as aspirin,
and cold and flu med-
ications. Scott &
White Express Home
Prescription Services
offers a full line of
OTC medications
including vitamins
and skin care prod-
ucts.
If you are interest-
ed in this program
and would like further
information concern-
ing the príce of a medication you are cur-
rently taking, please call a customer Ser-
vice representative at (817) 742-0550 or
(800) 707-3477. SPJST and Scott &
White Prescription Services are pleased to
make this program available to all SPJST
certificate holders and look forward to
helping you manage your prescription
needs. Be looking in the Věstník over the
next three weeks for further information!
