Hosts Casino Night
This Saturday
Dear Readers,
Casino-style entertainment returns to
Flag Halí this Saturday, October 14. The
ťun starts at 7 p.m. For the $15 admission
price, guests can enjoy ťood, refreshments
and multi-table gaming action, including
blackjack, roulette and other table games.
A prize auction, including a Las Vegas
vacation and more than 25 other prizes will
top the ťun evening. Players will use gam-
ing currency they háve accumulated during
the evening to participate in the auction.
Funds generated from Casino Night
will go to support Lodge 24, Cyclone and
its various fraternal programs. For
advance tickets, please contact Casino
Night Chairman Bobby Hoelscher at 985-
2537, or any active lodge member. You
must be 21 or older to purchase tickets.
Tickets may also be purchased at the dooř.

Presented below are some ofthe members who previously
received SPJST Scholarships. Throughout the duration of the
100 Pennies Scholarship Drive, the Věstník will be providing
updates on past scholarship recipients and what they are now
doing. Collectively, they are all members of what we refer to
as the “SP League, ” or “Scholarship Program League. ”
Jennifer Jez received an SPJST
Scholarship in 1987 and graduated from
Texas Wometvs University in 1987 with
a bachefors degree in Nursing. She is
now employed with Trinitv Medica!
Center in Carrollton, Texas.
In addition to her nursing career,
Jenniťer enjoys travelling and has visited
Mexico, Haiti, several European coun-
tries, including the Czech Republic, and
the Ukraine.
Jennifer is a member of Lodge 47,
Seaton.

k3hannon Hurta received an SPJST
Scholarship in 1988 and graduated cum
laude from Texas A&M University with
bache!or’s degrees in Marketing and
Business Analysis. She was aiso a mem-
ber of the National Dean’s Honor List.
She is now employed with Benchmark
Electronics in Richwood, Texas.
Shannon is a member of Lodge 47,
Seaton.

JVavin James Stuckly received an
SPJST Scholarship in 1987 and graduat-
ed from Baylor University in 1989 with a
degree in Computer Information
Systems. He is now employed with
Tandy Information Services in Fort
Worth, Texas.

Ifyou are a past scholarship recipient and did not
receive a biographical update form and would like to
be included, please contact Barbara Wright in the
Presidenťs Office at 1 (800) 72-SPJST.
Saturday, October 21, 1995. Regisíration
fee is $10 and includes the noon meal,
snacks and prizes.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and
w'e pian to begin piaying at 9:15 a.m.
Fifteen games will be played with a time
limit of 20 minutes per game. The tour-
nament should end around 4:30 p.m.
We especially invite SPJST members
but anyone is weicome. You do not need a
partner as all players will draw numbers
and be seated accordingly for the first
round. The two winners will move to next
table and split up and play with the losers
who remain at that table. There will be no
head table thus all winners will move.
We will use the same rules that the
State SPJST uses. Aiso, we ask that as
many persons as possible please pre-reg-
ister so we can pian the food needs. But
it is not a must to pre-register.

The October meeting of Lodge 66 will
be held Sunday, October 15, 1995, at
2:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring a
salad, veggies or a dessert. The lodge
will ťurnish the meat.

To Members of Lodge 79, Corpus
Christi:
In order to accomplish one of our
incentive goals—group volunteer work,
we as a group will meet at 8:30 a.m. on
Sunday, October 15 at 5502 Kostorz
Road to really give Sokol Corpus Christi
a hand by scrubbing and polishing, etc.
The telecommittee will contact you.
Come dressed to work. Bring side and/or
dessert dishes. Lodge 79 will furnish
meat. We will eat before the meeting
at 1 p.m.
Please join us—we need your help.
You can even wash ice buckets. We will
háve a good íime and it will make us all
fee! good to help someone else.

Lodge 81, Needville
Reports on
September Meeting
On Sunday, September 17, 1995,
Lodge 81, Needville met for their month-
ly meeting. A total of 41 people were
present.
Ivory Shiek from Lodge 142 was our
visitor. She was the guest of Louis and
Paulině Havelka. We were very happy to
háve you at our meeting. Come again,
Ivory.
Before we ate the delicious baked and
fried chicken prepared by Darwin’s
Restaurant, everyone sat around and visit-
ed and drank coffee. Thanks to President
Macha for picking up the chicken. When
the clock on the wall show'ed 12 noon,
Sister Mary Werner signaled that dinner
was ready to be served. President Macha
led us in grace for the meal blessing.
Mary, our kitchen chairman, sends her
thanks to all of the ladies for all of the
delicious vegetables, salads, and desserts
that were brought.
At 1 p.m., the meeting was calied to
order by the President. The Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Mary Werner. All
officers were present except Vice
President Vincent Newman. He was
absent due to his job commitment.
Secretary Mary Werner read the min-
utes from the August meeting. They
were accepted as read. Treasurer Willie
Mae Kuykendall presented her monthly
financial report. The report was accepted
as presented. The speciál fund chairman,
Gilbert Walzel, began by telling us what
is on the calendar from now until our
next meeting. He then gave his report
covering the income and expenses.
Death took another one of our mem-
bers this past month. She is Olga Krobot.
A moment of silence was observed in her
memory. May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to her famiíy.
Lodge 81 members aiso stood in silence
in remembrance of Samuel McKay
Everett. This was the youngster from
Conroe who was kidnapped and mur-
