BARNHART NEWS
Mr. Bill Bind and grandmother,
Mrs. Jim Bisset, camp in from Junc-
tion this evening and are visiting rel-
atives in Barnhart.
Mr. and Mrs. Bass Neal returned
home from Oklahoma yesterday
where they spent several weeks vis-
iting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Holcomb and family
reurned home Tuesday from Pecos
City where they visited their daugh-
ter and family.
Mrs. David Armstrong, who un-
derwent an operation at San Angelo
some eight or ten days ago, has re
turned home and is well on the road
to recovery.
The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Collins has been very ill and
was taken to San Angelo for medi-
cal attention Tuesday.
Mrs. W. L. Teague and daughter.
Etta, returned yesterday from a stay
with their daughter and sister, Mrs.
Homer Wood, near MerUon.
Mr. and Mrs. David Darst motored
to San Angelo last Sunday to meet
their daughter, Kalita, and son, Nor-
man, who returned home from a five
weeks’ vacation to San Antonio, Yoa-
kum, Houston, Galveston and other
places of interest.
Mr. and Mrs. O. Wilson, Aug.
Kumstler and Mr. and Mrs. C. Dick-
eason went down on the Pecos on a
fishing trip last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Doc Lovelace and
family spent Sunday on Spring
Creek picnicking.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Lightfoot at-
tended church at Tankersley last
Sunday.
Mrs. Henry McGlothin und little
daughter, Dorothea, returned from a
two weeks’ visit at Eldorado last Sat-
urday.
Bill Bisset and Roger Blain motor-
ed to San Angelo today.
Charlie Wilco* went to McCamey
on business today.
Leonard Wilson, Arlington llel-
bing and Norman Darst went to.
Mertzon today to spend the day on
Spring Creek.
Mrs. E. F. Vanderbilt and children
came through our town Monday cn
route to New Braunfels to visit rela-
tives.
A fine baby boy was born to Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Bran last Friday. Both
mother and baby are doing fine.
RANKIN NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Davis visited
relatives in San Angelo this week.
Miss Hattie Garner has returned
from a two weeks’ visit with her sis-
ter in Crockett county.
I. G. Yates shipped fourteen curs
of fat cattlr to the Kansas City mar-
ket last week, and also sold one car
of calves to u California buyer.
Mrs. Walter Graham returned last
Saturdav from a visit with her par-
ent* at El Paso.
Miss Emma Dameron of Sheffield,
is visiting her sister, Mrs. Hamp Carr-
ier.
Miss Nora Davis, of San Angelo,
is visiting her brother, W. M. Davis.
W. J. Foreman has rented rooms
from Mrs. Millard and will move his
family here at an early date.
Mr. Laudermilk, of Mertzon, was
in Rankin Wednesday. He will prob-
ably move here latrr.
R. N. McCarthy returned Thursday
for a few days visit with his family
at Pecos City.
Mr. Clifton George, of McCamey,
and Miss lx>uise Simmons were mar-
ried on August -Uh, Justice of the
Peace Mrs. Zark Monroe officiating.
Their many friends in Rankin wish
for them a pleasant journey through
life.
Miss Lela Zell Monroe has re-
turned from a two weeks' visit with
relatives at Midland.
G. L Brttilyon, proprietor of the
Hankin Hotel, is building an additi* n
to the hotel which will almost double
its capacity.
Murphy Johnson, of Alpine, has
secured property here und will o|>en
up an electric anop at an early dale.
Mrs. Patterson, of Balmorhoa, was
in town the first of lsst week visit-
ing her daughtrr. Mrs. Lut !e Sam-
mons.
Messrs. Verner Gregg and Luther
Gregg, of Roscoe, were visitors i»>
town last Jvalurday and Sumlav. Mr.
Verner Gregg delivered several good
Mraaot, with Luther Crepe leading
the singing. We feel sure that these
two young, ambitious men will make
good in life.
Mis* Thelma McDonald is the
new waitress at the Modern Cafe.
W. W Johnson is working on the
old Sammons store, which is being

Prof. Ma* William- and wife and
Mr. and Mrs. Mum il Worley arc vis-
iting in New Mexico.
Grover Lyle and A. J. Rudiong
went to San Angelo Tuesday.
The Gulf Production Co., have just
opened up an office in the Richard-
son building. They have unloaded
fifteen cars of material and will have
nbou9twenty-five more cars here in
a few days.
I. C. Elliott has sold his intere-t
in the cafe at McCamey to H. C. Mr-
Gcehe and is working for the Mar-
laud Oil Company.
Miss Eoiii-e, Hazel and Lit Hill, of
Midland, are visiting friends in Ran-
kin this week.
Miss Laura Custer, who has been
visiting Mias Edith Harris returned
to her home in Oklahoma Wednes-
day.

LaMotte, wife of Eugene LaMotte,
and Arshall Adams by making publi-
cation of this citation once in each
week for four successive weeks pre-
vious to the return day hereof, in
some newspaper published in your
county, if there be a newspaper pub-
lished therein, but if not, then in any
newspaper published in the 83rd Ju-
dicial District; hut if there be no
newspaper published in said Judicial
District, then in a newspaper pub-
lished in the nearest District to said
83crd Judicial District, to appear at
the next regular term of the 83rd
District Court of Upton county, to be
holden at the courthouse thereof, in
Rankin, Texas, on the 4th Monday in
September A. D. 1926, the same
being the 27th day of Septem-
ber A. D. 192 6, then and
there to answer A petition filed in
said Court on the 12th day of August
A. D. 1926, in a suit, numbered on
lh« docket of said Court No. 73,
wherein Elmer Crabb is plaintiff, and
Eugene LaMotte, Georgiana LaMotte
wife of Eugue LaMotte, and Arshall
Adams are defendants, and said pe-
tition alleging: Plaintiff Elmer Crabb
sues on judgment rendered in Pitts-
burg county, Oklahoma. Said judg-
ment being for the sum of $.3995.33.
It is aleged that $3500.00 was real-
ized on the said judgment under an
order of sale issued out of the Dis-
trict Court of Pittsburg August I Oth,
1925, and that there remains a defi-
ciency judgment against the said de-
fendants in favor of said Elmer
Crabb the sum of $2838.06. That
the defendants have failed and re-
fused to pay any part thereof or its
entirety. That the lands now owned
by said Eugene LaMotte and Georgi-
ana LaMotte, the same Ix-fng section
87, survey 87, abstract 133, certifi-
cate 185, Upton county, Texas, la-
levied on ami sold to satisfy said
deficiency judgment.

Mert Purcell were married Sunday
evening at 9:30. The Rev. J. E.
Zimmerman, pastor of the Baptist
church officiated. The wedding
ceremony was performed in the
dining room of the Bland Garage
eating house, of which Miss l.u Mil-
tye, associated with Mrs. Irma Irby,
is one of the proprietors of this pop-
ular hostelry. Mrs. Purcell has re-
sided in Big I.ake for the past ten
years and numbers her friends by
la r acquaintances. Duifug A. E.
Curtis' administration as postmaster
in Big Lake, she was his able and
popular assistant. Mr. Purcell has
la-en a resident of Big latkc for about
a year und a half and i- the efficient
and accommodating frieght agent at
the Orient depot. He is u quiet and
an unassuming gentleman who makes
friends wherever he i, known. Mr.
and Mrs. Pureell will continue to
make Big laikr their home which is
good news to their many friends, who
join with the “Wildcat" in wishing
for them happiness and prosperity

Cunningham-McDermrtt
Sidney McDermett and Miss Velma
Cunningham were married Sunday
evening at the home of the bride’s
parents in Jacksonville, Texas, where
she is one of the teachers in the
schools of that city. Sidney is the
oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E.
McDermett and is of the highest type
of young manhood. After finishing
high school he completed his educa-
tion in Howard Payne College,
Brownwood. He is a splendid young
business man and has been traveling
for some time for a wholesale gro-
cery house with headquarters in
Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The many
friends of the family extend best
wishes for happiness and prosperity.

The marriage of Mr. Enos Sowell
and Mrs. Opal Roger* was solemn-
ized Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Judge and Mrs. W. W. Pitt-
man in the presence of a few friends.
Judge Pittman officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Sowell are well and
favorably known throughout this
part of West Texas, where they hava
hern identified with its interests and
have resided for some time. They
are splendid people and have the best
wishes of a large cortege of friends
for their happiness and prosperity.
