The pastor ha* been granted a
leave of absence by the church and
will not be in hi* pulpit the last Sun-
day of this month, Dec. 26th.
Sunday school normal diploma*
were awarded Sunday morning, Dec.
12, to fifteen who pasted the recent
study course successfully.
On the evening of January 10th,
additional Sunday school courses will
be pursued. It is hoped that all who
have been awarded diploma* will
continue their courses.
A special Christmas offering for
Buckner Orphan’s Tlorne was launch-
ed last Sunday morning and will be
continued next Sunday, Dec. I9th. A
numlier of worthy offerings have al-
ready been made, the largest one thus
far coming from the B. Y. P. U. The
young people are setting the pace
and are to be highly commended for
such action. Every member of the
church is expected to have a part in
the special offering. If you cannot
be present at church next Sunday,
mail your offering to the pastor,
and it will reach the orphans’ home
before Christmas. Envelopes for
thut purpose may be secured at the
church or from the pastor. All mem-
bers of the church are expected to
do their part. Do not fail to attend
to this important matter.
The W. M. U. and T. E. L. Sunday
school class arc doing some worth-
while things for the home, sending
many useful things.
Large audiences were present at
Imth morning and evening services
last Sunday, for which the pastor and
church are trulv grateful. A num-
ber of strangers were in both service*.
You are heartily accorded a welcome
and we will expect to have you come
again. You are always welcome to
worship with us.
The Sunday school will have a
Christmas tree for the youngster* in
due time. Watch for announcements.
The T. E. L. class is planning the
erection of a special Sunday school
room, and work will begin in the near
future.
Next Sunday, ns indicated by the
directory, two outstanding themes will
be discussed. It is hoped that every
member will make it a point to l«*
rresent at the last service* together
or this year, simr the pastor will he
absent the next Sunday. Come,
bring someone with you, and we will
make the last Sunday of the year t*»-
gether one of the best of them all.

Mrs. Charlie Lindlev and children
of Stiles, came through our city this
eve from San Angelo en route home.
Mrsdame* Bart Westphaul and W.
L. Teague motored to San Angelo
Monday to do their Christmas shop-
ping.
Mr. and Mrs. D. I. Taylor were
San Angelo visitors Monday und

Miss Geneva Hearn of Sweetwater,
is visiting her cousin, Miss Kaleta
Durst, this week.
Owen Porter and Norman Durst
went out to the S. ranch last Sat-
urday.
Walter Webster of Mertzon, is in
Barnhart tonight.
David Uarst motored to San An-
gelo Monday.
M. M. Stallcup of Girvin, spent a
day or two in Rarnharl last week lie-
fore starting off on a bunting trip.
A dance was given at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. C. Watson’s lust Friday
night and quite a crowd attended.
C. Dickenson of San Angelo, spent
last Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Clint Sliuw.
L-sler Long went to the Hume
ranch last Saturday. He returned to-
day and is going to school again.
O. Wilson and Bill kuenstcr of
San Angelo, passed through here lust
Sunday en route to McCamey.
Nancy Onetta, the little daughter
of Mr. und Mrs. Doc Lovelace, has
been ill for the last few days.
Homer Ingluim of Stiles, visited
in Hrnnhurt last Sunday.
Misses Etta Teague. Pauline
Brown, Kaleta Darst and Joe Dawson
motored to Ozona last Sunday.
A dance will lie given at the Mid-
wav garage Friday night, Dec. 17.
Everybody is invited to conic and
help us have u good time.
Mr. and Mrs. Barney Ryan and
children went to Mertzon last Sun-
day to visit with Mrs. Ryan's parents.
Jim llrown from the — S. ranch,
was in town today.

Mr. and Mrs. Jess Pool and chil-
dren went to San Angelo Tuesday,
Mr. Pool having had trouble with his
arm* again. Mrs. Ruth Delavan is
attending to the hotel. Miss Mary Al-
ice Delavan assisting her.
Mrs. Poage, Mrs. Lindley and her
two sons, Pete and Cadman, made a
business trip to San Angelo Tuesday.
Dr. Cray, of Fort Worth, was in
Stiles Monday on business.
The Stiles school is putting on a
program next Tuesday night. It will
Im> the Christmas program. Every-
body invited. It will take pluce in
the school house.

by the T. E. L. Class of the Baptist
church. This is strictly a class play
and none hut member* of this class
will have any purl in ;t. They arc
putting: on this play for the purpose
of raising money w ith which to add
another Sunday school room to their
church home.
This is a laudable undertaking for
this class and should be well patron-

county, whether owned or leased, un-
asked to kill the prairie dogs in said
