Grade 4A
On checking our attendance we
found that five boys In our room
had perfect attendance the first
semester. Those boys are Billy
Beaver, Larry Jo Cantrell, Glenn
Dale Collier, William Pryor and
James Edward Walton. Edward Ur-
quldez was present each day but
waa tardy one time. Congratula-
tions to these boys and their par-
ents on being present and on time
each day.
The last two weeks we have en-
joyed a "trip” to three countries on
the shores of the Mediterranean
8ea. We have read many stories
and learned many Interesting
things fcoout the people of Spain,
Italy and Greece. All of us hope
that some day we may visit these
lands and actually see the things
we have read about.
Several of our classmates are ill.
We hope they will be back in school
soon.

Grade 4B
We are in the midst of our unit
on "The Dutch.” Each row In our
room has been named to represent
something from Holland. We have
Dike Street, Windmill Street and
Tulip Street. Our reading table has
a Dutch village on It. We are having
lots of fun working on this unit.
We are so sorryt that Dwyane
Basham Is ill in the hospital with
scarlet fever. We hope that he will
soon be well and be able to come
back to school. Several other boys
and girls are 111 also. We don't like
for our boys and girls to be absent.
We are still trying to master the
multiplication tables.
Grade 4C
We lost one of our very good
pupils last week—David Samuels.
He has moved with his parents to
Ft. Stockton. Ronald Davee en-
rolled this morning from the An-
drews city schools. We are glad
to have him join our group.
Some very interesting letters
have been received from our Audu-
bon Junior Club friends. One of the
girls who now lives in Canada was
born In India, but has lived in Eng-
land and Scotland. She told us the
entire school went to the arena
skating. The letters we received
from Simms, Montana told of skat-
ing. building snow forts and also of
looking at the Rocky Mountains
through their school room win-
dows. Every child In the room who
received letters was so thrilled to
get them, they wanted to answer
today. So the children have been
writing replies and the teacher cor-
recting their mistakes. A good long
lesson In the study of English.
Grade 6B
Our class has been quite busy
studying the division of fractions.
We have all learned how to add,
subtract, multiply and now we
know how to divide fractions.
In social studies we have Just
completed a unit on the French
and Indian War. Our new unit Is
‘‘Gaining Our Independence " We
think this study is going to be very
interesting as we are so concerned
about the development of our own
country.
Everybody reports an exciting
week end, enjoying the annual bas-
ketball tournament.
We have several classmates ab-
sent from school, due to the flu.
I Practically every week we report
a new pupil. This week It’s Travis
Stewart from Trout. La. and Alice
Teague from Snyder. Alice only
stayed 2 days and moved on her
way. Welcome to our room, Travis.
Lottie spent the week end with
her grandmother In Fredericksburg
and Sharren visited in Elbert,
Texas.—Reporters, Lynette Thomp-
son and Jeanette Weatherby.
