International Club
Discusses Rome

Slides of “Ancient and Present
Rome” highlighted the International
Club’s seooiid meeting of the year
last Thursday night. Meeting in the
Religious Activities Center at 7:30
p.m., member* were given the op-
portunity to hear of two recent trips
to Europe by Southwestern people.
Mrs. Elizabeth Reaver, German
instructor, narrated the pictures of
her stay in Roane with vivid de-
scription of ares, forums, and the
everpresent fumes of open-air fish
markets.
Mary Aubra Shirley, who visited
Europe with a group of SU students
headed by Dr. Monostory, also show-
ed her slides of Rome. These in-
cluded many points of cultural in-
terest.
Tlie International Club’s first
meeting consisted .of South Ameri-
can slides, a display of South Ameri-
can artifacts, and1 a discussion on
Bolivia. Future plans indude a talk
in Decerr^ber by University of Tex-
as Professor John Cornell on Rus-
sia, based on his trip there. The
club dinner, previously soheduled for
November, has been moved to Jan-
uary 8.
Programs introducing foreign
countries and discussing internation-
al affairs are scheduled1 for the rest
of the year.

ing opportunities whereby they can
get to understand' each other better,”
said President Jimmy Derr. A basis
for appreciating culture and a bet-

Lambda Chapter of Zeta Tau Al-
pha is proud to announce the ini-
tiation of four pledges. They are
Suzan Lee, Ann Brazziel, Judy May-
field, and Deanna Kay Holm. The
service took place on October 8.
On October 15 at the Villa Capri
in Austin, the Zetas commemorated
National Founders Day with a ban-
quet. Dean Martha Allen was spe-
eail guest for the occasion.
Plans are now being made for
the annual mother’s weekend, sche-
duled1 for November 6-8. Plans in
dude a picnic, a luncheon1, a re-
ception, and church on Sunday. In
order for them to experience the
spirit of campus life, the mothers
will stay in the dorms.

Mad madras promises to get even
madder at the Alpha Delta Pi “It’s
a Mad, Mad, Madras World” parly
tomorrow night.
Social chairman Jo Layne Reese
announced that the fun will begin
at 8 p.m. at the Georgetown Country
Club. She added, “There’s one re-
quirement for guests — everyone
has to wear something madras.”
Music for the ADPis and their
dates will be provided by Jimmy
Dee and the Belmonte from Hous-
ton.

As a part of. Halloween festivities
Jiis year dormitory open houses will
be held Friday, October 30, 6:00 -
8:00 p.m.
The girls’ dOrms, LK and Kurih,
will be open from 6:00 until 7:00
and the boys' dorms, Ruter and
Mood, will be open 7:00 until 8:00*.
Refreshments will be served in
Mood Hall during the latter hour.
AH students and faculty members
are invited to participate in this
once-a-year opportunity.
