ceives flowers and a kiss in the SU gym.

Team Sweetheart
“I didn’t hear my name announ-
ced, but when he gave me a big
* smack I knew it was me and
the flowers.”
This was Janet Bridges’ com-
ment on her reaction to being elect-
ed Basketball Sweetheart.
She is a 5’ 7” freshman from
Houston, majoring in elementary
education. Having worked with
children in Sunday School and
swimming classes, she has already
gained valuable experience in this
. field. She loves to swim, ride hors-
es, and almost every outdoor ac-
tivity.
“I have a new interest in sports,
. particularly basketball,” she joked!
“In (fact because of my height I
have always liked basketball,” she
■' said.
After earning a degree in edu-
. cation, Janet would like to be an
exchange teaeher in Europe or Aus-
tralia. She wants to work with the
natives “but,” as she said “that
involves learning the languages.”

: ^impresses her most is the open
she was so excited after the an-
nouncement that she says she could-
n’t have walked off the floor alone!
frhe claims that she has lost severaj
.flight’s sleen just sitting in bed all
aglow over this wonderful honor.
Instead of sending the boys a
thank you note, Janet gave them a
thank you party Tuesday afternoon
at Coach Dees’ home. They had
coffee and cake with a thank you
message on it.
Janet still has her beautiful bou-
quet of roses hanging on her door!

We are not restricted to any par-
