THE MEGAPHONE
SEE IT
Tilings are back to normal now.
Everyone is moved in and all the
boys in the dorms are waiting for
rush to be over so they can move
out and around. Seems like pledge
brothers alone can be friends!
Went looking at Mood Hall — and
it’s still there, surprisingly enough.
I hope there are no burning toilet
paper problems this year. The old
hall can’t take a whole lot.
Ruter looks good. Better than
Mood anyway. But there’s some-
thing about Ruter that makes it too
formal. Maybe it’s all the rules that
jsay “don’t” and “you can’t” that
make it stiff. I’m glad Mood says
"do” and “you can” because to
survive, you have to!
Kurth, as usual, is in best of
Shape. And the shapes in Kurth are
reportedly good1, too. Here's wish-
ing Lovey luck in keeping every-
thing in its present form!

I got to see the girls move into
L.K. Everything was shaping up
nicely there, too.

Over on fraternity row a great
deal of beauty has been added. The
'Sigs removed1 some telephone poles
designed for non existent ivy —and
the effect is tremendous. It’s New
Orlean’s House of the Rising Sun
for the men who wear the crescent.
Went to Sneed House, too. Some
Improvements were made, and the
Honor Dorm has taken on a new
and distinguished look. Girls galore
©re in the Honor Dorm, and wow
—what popularity. —Honor Dorm?
Tryouts Set For
A'Cappella Choir
Tryouts for the Southwestern
A’Cappella Choir are Monday through
Wednesday.
Tryouts will be in the Recital
Hall of the Fine Aits Building,
Dean Jolm Richards, director, an-
nounces.
“No appointment is necessary,”
Richards said. Tryouts will be from
7:00 until 9:00, and those interested
are urged to come by anytime.
Dean Richards said that the
chodr needed singers, but more than
that it needed interested partiici-
pants.
For those 40 to 45 selected^ for
the Choir, rehearsal is at 12:45 Mom-
day-FricSay. “We sang in chapel, at
programs, and second semester we
go on tour,” Richards said.
In recent years the Southwestern
A ’Cappelia Choir has been rated
one of the best in the state. A let-
ter to THE MEGAPHONE last year
from a church in Austin said, “We
have heard many choirs, but none
better than Souithwestem’s.”

THEY
SEE IT
Some of the more interesting
comments af this week came from
the different dorms on campus.
One freshman male greeted Mood
Hall saying “This dorm isn’t Chris-
tian.”
On the same dorm another fresh-
man commented!: “A proctor fold
me it was going to be tom down
next year. Tliat’s what I call
faith!”
Moving over to L. K. some fresh-
man girls had much to, say about
their new home.
“There were crickets between my
mattress!” one girl said.
“We only have one electrical out-
let!” another commented (But
frankly — one outlet is plenty. You
can hang extention cords around
the room and use them for clothes
lines on rainy days — to make
them seem practical.)
A friendly L. K. Freshman, said,
“I don’t like my second' room, mate
and that ruins the room.” So what’s
wrong with the second room mate?
“It’s a rat.”
Over alt Ruter everyone appeared
somewhat happier than those in
Mood. But not all was roses.
“Rater's nice if you like rough-
ing it.”
“You want to know what I really
think? Are you going to quote me?
....It’s nice, really.”

Cody Library Has
Pillars of Faith
The Cody Memorial Library of
Southwestern University is the re-
cipient of “Pillars of Faliith” by
Miss Clara Jones, Taylor historian
and civic leader. The work in-
cludes biographies of people whose
names have made history in Wil-
liamson County and who contribut-
ed to the founding and building of
the First Christian Church of Tay-
lor.
5 Says the author, “Tims book is
about people who liave gone to their
reward, but who, while they were
here, corJtributed of their talents, |
both material and spiritual,............that
we who came afterward might en-
joy a heritage of good1 things, mos.
of which have cost us nothing, and
many of which we ck> not merit.”
Miss Jones relates that, in De-
cember 1877, 22 persons from dif-
ferent states and different environ-
mante pH’shl fehieti a church in the
new town of Taylorsville, now called!
