when he presents a special Bi-
centennial lecture entitled
"Toward the Third Century."
Dr. Owens is a recently retired
professor of English at
Columbia University.

Sinfonietta Tuesday
The Southwestern Sin-
fonietta, under the baton of
Raymond Schroeder, and the
University Chorale, with Ken
Sheppard as conductor, will
combine forces in a concert
Tuesday, April 13, at 8 p.m. in
the Alma Thomas Theatre.
The program will include
Rossini's overture to the opera,
The Barber of Seville;
Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B
Minor, "Unfinished";
Washburn's Synthesis for
Orchestra; Britten's Hymn to
St. Cecilia; Daude's Shepherd's
Hymn' Pinkham's Three
Lenten Poems of Richard
Crashaw; and then as the
climax and finale of the
program, the combined groups
will perform Howard Hanson's
patriotic Song of

alone. There is no admission
charge for this concert.

of original graphic art by the
Ferdinard Roten Galleries of
Baltimore, Maryland has been
scheduled in the Alma Thomas
Gallery for Tuesday, April 13,
from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. Major
works by approximately 50 ear-
ly and modern masters from
Durer to Picasso will be
represented in the exhibition.

the Southwestern University
Symphonic Band, combined
with the Georgetown High
School bands, will present a
concert of Sousa marches on
the Georgetown Square. This
concert is sponsored by the
Georgetown Bicentennial
