To Begin Broadcasting Soon
Georgetown’s radio station, are playing a basketball game to-

the end of next week, station man-
ager Drew Ballard believed Wed-
nesday morning.
“W!e are ready,” Mr- Ballard told
the SUN, “All we need is word
from the FCC to begin programs
ming and I am expecting to re-
ceive that word the first week in
December.”
Equipment tests have been con-
ducted several nights recently and
the station was in operation an
hour Tuesday afternoon for an
inspection by a representative of
the Federal Communication Com-
mission.

been very keen, Mr. Ballard re-
ported. “I have yet to find anyone
in Georgetown who showed an in-
different attitude toward the sta-
tion. On the contrary, everyone
seems to be eager to hear us on
the air and feels that we cau
make a significant contribution to
the whole Georgetown area.”
The station will be found at
1580 on the radio dial and because
of its strength and nearness will
come in loud and clear.
Dr. Merzbach Speaks
To Methodist Men
Dr. L. H. Merzbach, professor
and head of the Department of
Economics and Business Adminis-
tration at Southwestern University,
was the guest speaker for the din-
ner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Novem-
ber 28 of the Methodist Men of the
First Methodist Church in George-
town.
: “Recent Trends in Industry and
I International Trade in Western Eu-
I rope” was the topic of Dr. Merz-
bach’s address.
Well-known in economic circles,
Dr. Merzbach holds the Doctor of
Economics and Political Science
degree from the University of Ber-
lin. He has been at Southwestern
University since 1947. Dr. Merz-
bach holds regional offices in Am-
erican Association of University
Professors and Pi Gamma Mu.

The regular monthly meeting of
the Southwestern Chapter of the
Arrerican Association of University
Professors will meet Monday even-
ing, December 3.
President of the Association, Pro-
fessor Penick, will lead discussion
on topics concerning professional
and campus interests. A vote on an
ammendment to the constitution of
the local chapter will be taken,
then a social hour will conclude
