Interest in city, school and
county elections remains at a
relative low ebb, but there is
increasing evidence of consid-
erable activity in the Town of
Refugio election.
With five candidates for
three places on the city elec-
tion, it is understood sup-
ports of one candidate are
urging people to vote for the
one person and scratch all
other names.
As the ballot reads (Vote
For Three Only) a ballot with
four names crossed out will
be a legal ballot and count as
one vote for the person whose
name remains unmarked.

What is humorous?
Impressions could see some-
thing to laugh about, while
Friend Wife failed to see any-
thing funny in the situation.
She was on her hands and
knees in the living room . . .
cleaning up and off the rug
an Easter egg—said egg not
having been hard boiled.
Impressions explained to
her that had she been on tele-
vision, in the newspaper
comics, or at the picture show
a scene of—
A seven-year-old having
fixed some Easter eggs, dye-
ing them a pretty color after
boiling them for three min-
utes (like he had heard peo-
ple order boiled eggs) then
later in the day having his
older sister drop one of such
eggs in mid-living room . . .
she would have laughed.
She half-heartedly agreed
. . . but hastened to add that
in the future her sympathy
will be with other characters
of such a scene—the Mother
of the house.
(Father is proud of son’s
ingenuity and thinks the
eggs were well colored, but
kept very quiet around the
house.)

A happy, joyous Easter
season to each and everyone
of you.

Friday and Saturday, April
10 and 11, are the dates for
the 17th Annual Poteet
Strawberry Festival. Satur-
day is the big day — with
parade, contests, strawberry
judging and sale, as well as
strawberry shortcake offered
for sale throughout the day,
like hamburgers at a county
fair.
They are really making a
crop in the Poteet area this
season. The producers are
getting a good price for their
berries . . . but what beauti-
ful and tasty berries.

gio County Fair, October 8 - 9 -10.
The paying of premiums on
standard grades and classification
is by far more popular and edu-
cational than supporting an auc-
tion. King further states all form-
er members and prospective mem-
bers are being invited to join by
mail and that it is hoped the goal
will be attained without the need
of personal contact. The officers
and membership are all business-
men and womlen and do not have
the time to neglect their work for
this important task. And if Re-
fugio County wishes to encourage
the junior agriculture and live-
stock leaders of tomorrow, it is
hoped that each notice mailed will
receive a prompt response.
