ed the altar at the First Metho-
dist Church in Port Isabel Sat-
urday afternoon for the wed-
ding of Miss Katherine Gene
Mock arid Barry Wayne Willis.
The bride’s parents are Mr.
and tMrs. T. B. IMock of Port
Isabel. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wil-
lis of Freer, are parents of the
groom.
The hride wore an ankle-
length gown of embossed satin,
with an empire waist line sat-
in train fell from the shoulders.
Her veil of bridal illusion was
jheld with an organza rose. She
'carried a cascade bouquet of
white roses and English Ivy.
Miss Marjorie Nell Huff of
Alice, was the maid of honor.
She wore an ankle-length gown
of light pink embossed taffeta
and crepe fashioned with an em-
pire waist line arid a straight
skirt. Her headpiece was a pink
organza rose with a tulle face
veil. She carried pink roses and
feathered carnations.

riage Saturday, June 11, 1966,
at 2 p.m. in Sharpstown Bap-
tist Church.
The double ring ceremony
was performed in a setting of
white gladiolus.
The bride’s sister, Mrs. Har-
ry Owens, of Houston was her
only attendant.
Butch Yarbrough, son of the
bride, and Mike Owens, nephew
of the bride, were ushers.
A reception was held in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Ovens following the ceremony.

with a lace cloth with a net
overskirt. A pink, white, and
green arrangement centered the
table.
The three-tiered wedding
cake was decorated with bells
and topped with a miniature
bride and groom. Punch and
sandwiches were served with

attended McMurry College and
was graduated from A&I. She
is a member of Phi Alpha The-
ta. The groom is a graduate of
the Freer High School and A&I.

Woodsboro.—Mr. and Mrs. W.
A. Wright returned home Mon-
day, June 13, after a 10-day
visit in San Antonio with their
son and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Wright and children
and in Poteet with their daugh-
ter and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Troy Hall and children.
Mr. and Mrs. Hall brought
them home and stayed until
Tuesday afternoon, June 14.
While gone, the Wrights at-

in San Antonio at the home of
her sister, Mrs. Dave Wright,

Homer Miller, T9, of Washing-
ton, D. C., a retired Methodist
minister, visited Sunday, May
22, in the home of his son and
family, the Rev. and Mrs. Gor-
don Miller. He accompanied his
son to the Annual Conference
in Dallas from June 6-12. Fol-
lowing his return to Woodsboro,
he journeyed to Cuero for a
visit with his brother, Mr. Hol-
lis "Bud” Miller.
The Rev. Miller will accom-
pany the Gordon Miller family
to Comfort for a visit.

From Vacation
Woodsboro. — Mr. and Mrs.
H. R. Peal and children recent-
ly returned from a two weeks’
vacation trip.
They visited in Marshall with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.
B. Mercer. Mrs. Peal’s father
had recently undergone sur-
gery.
They also visited in Atlanta
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. W. Peal, and other relatives.
While in Atlanta, they visited

Woodsboro. — Approximately
150 persons attended the Nie-
mann Family Reunion, Sunday,
June 12, in Orange Grove.
A barbecue dinner was serv-
ed and afternoon refreshments
of cake, pies, coffee and cold

Boyd Wilson visited from Sun-
day, June 5, to Friday, June
10, in Louisiana with relatives.
In Vivian, Louisiana, they
visited her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. B. R. Holbert. After leav-
ing there, they went to Mon-
roe, Louisiana where they visit-
ed his brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson, and
other relatives.
Mrs. Cummins, Jr. had re-
ceived word 6f the serious ill-
ness of her uncle, Ernest Ross.
She is visiting in the home of
her uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. Ross, for a week or more.
While she is there, Mary Ann
is attending Campfire Girls
Camp near Hunt.

ning, June 8, the Sons of Her-
mann had a picnic in Pfullman
Park, with approximately 100

Evans arrived in Woodsboro
Thursday, June 16, to begin his
ministry in the First Methodist
Church of Woodsboro.
The Rev. Evans, 29, served
at the Peary Place Methodist
Church in Corpus Christi, be-
fore going to Staples, Texas.
He is a graduate off the Van-
derbilt Divinity School in Nash-
vile, Tennessee.

MILLER TO COMFORT
The Rev. and Mrs. Gordon
Miller and two children, Donna
Beth, 5, and Mark, 3, left
Thursday, June 16, for their
new home in Comfort, Texas.
The Rev. Miller was pastor of
the First Methodist Church in
Woodsboro since June, 1964. A
graduate of the Perkins School
of Theology off Dallas, he was
also graduated from the Uni-
versity off Texas. He has held
pastorates at Decker Methodist,
served three-point circuit in
East Texas, and at Lake Dallas
Methodist Church. He was also
pastor at Los Fresnos, Mert-
zon, and Woodsboro.
Mrs. Miller, the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Chad Shock off
Refugio, attended Texas Wo-
man’s University, Southwest
Texas State, and the University
of Texas.
Rev. C. Hille Celebrated
On Ministry Milestone
Woodsboro. — In connection
with the worship service Sun-
day, June 12, Christ United
Church honored the 25th Anni-
versary of the ordination of its
pastor, Rev. Carl L. Hille, into
the Christian ministry.
Mrs. Harry C. Boenig, presi-
dent off the congregation, was
chairman at the surprise cele-
bration. She read a “This is
your life” or brief history of
Rev. Hille, presented him with
a card for remembering this
occasion, extended the cordial
good wishes of the congrega-
tion, and a generous gift. A
letter of congratulation on be-
half of the Association was re-
ceived from the Rev. Edwin F.
Schaeffer and read to the con-
gregation.
At the fellowship meal an
“Anniversary cake” was pre-
sented to the Rev. and Mrs.
Hille family. Since the fellow-
ship meal had provided abun-
dant delicious desserts, it was
decided that the cake would be
cut and served at the Church
outing or picnic to be held on
July 2 at Pfullman Park, so
that the congregation may
share in it.

at the fellowship meal, who had
come for the dodble-baptism of
Dan Clinton Boenig ami Lesley
Elizabeth Yarbrough, included
Rev. and Mrs. Albert C. Hen-

New Physical Therapist
Loma Linda, California. — A
Bayside man received the Bach-
elor of Science degree from Lo-
ma Linda University Sunday,
June 5, according to Ronald A.
Hershey, educational director
of the School of Physical Ther-
apy.
Lee F. Greer, Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lee F. Greer, Bay-
side, was one of 38 School of
Physical Therapy seniors who
participated in the university’s
fifty-fourth commencement cere-
monies at Redlands, California.

In Bible School
Woods'boro.—Church of Christ
Vacation Bible school is in ses-
sion this week. Monday, the en-
rollment was 86. Tuesday, it
had increased to 123.
Leo Owens of Alberta, Can-
ada, minister preaching in the
revival now in progress, is
teaching the adult class. Owens
has been a Church of Christ
minister in Texas before going
to Canada. Among Texas towns
in Which he ministered are
Rdckport, Bayside, and Kenedy.
Other teachers in the Bible
school include Beginners, Mrs.
Zack Williams, Mrs. W. F. Ab-
ney, Mrs. Bryce Boenig, and
Mrs. Frank Abney; Primaries,
Mrs. J. D. Moore and Mrs.
George Linney; Juniors, Wah-
ren Massey; and Young Peo-
ple, W. F. Abney.
George Schuster, local min-
ister, is the superintendent of
the school.
Mrs. Jimmy Brown is in
charge of the refreshments.

revival service, which is at 7:30

Beckman entertained with an
“88” party at her home Mon-
day nite, June 13.

More than 300 baccalaureate
and advanced degrees were con-
ferred by the university. The
graduates have completed pro-
grams in health sciences such
as medicine, dentistry, nursing,
and other paramedical subjects
and in a variety off academic
fields at the graduate level.
Before entering the two-year
physical therapy program at
Loma Linda University, Greer
attended Texas A&M Univer-
sity.

Woodsboro.—Miss Patsy Cro-
well arrived home from Agana,
Guam, Wednesday, June 8. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B.
Crowell, met her in San An-
tonio.
Miss Crowell expects to re-
turn to Guam in August to
teach school there another
year.
Also, visiting the Crowells
are their daughter and grand-
son, Mrs. Phillip Tucker and
Lowell Dean, of San Antonio.
They all went to Corpus
Christi Monday and visited rel-
atives.

went back to Corpus Christi for
a "family get-together” at the

'Superintendent W. A. Reeves
announced Thursday that Pat-
rick J. Atkinson has resigned
his high school position here
... to accept employment with
the IBM Corporation in Hous-
ton. Atkinson was scheduled to
start work for IBM this week.
Atkinson was a high school
teacher of trigonometry, ele-
mentary analysis, and geome-
try. He had been in the Woods-
boro school system for the past
two years.

Jerry Wotipka
Returns Home
Woodsboro. — Jerry Wotipka
returned home from Bellaire
Hospital in Houston, Saturday,
June 11.
He is to undergo extensive
physical therapy at home for
the injured leg and other com-
plications, Mrs. Wotipka said.
Scholarship
Woodsboro. — Jesse Martinez
and Larry Hodges have been
notified that they have received
athletic scholarships to Blinn
College in Brenham.
Jesse and Larry were con-
tacted by Athletic Coach Ben
W. Boehnke, and the boys ac-
cepted the scholarships Mon-
day, June 13.
Mrs. Jake Tyler's
Father Ailing
Woodsboro.—The condition of
T. A. Goff of Tilden has not
changed during the week, ac-
cording to latest reports.
A patient in the Three Rivers
Hospital, he is the father of
Mrs. Jake Tyler Who is with
him at the present time.
