Gift Jar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. mini baking M&Ms
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 L baking soda
1/41. salt
Comine the flour, baking soda,
and salt.
In a clean 1 liter sized canning
jar layer the ingredients in the
order given, starting with the
brown sugar and ending with the
flour mixture.
Attach a card with the follow-
ing directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
(175 degrees C). Line one baking
sheet with parchment paper.
Empty the contents of the jar in
a large bowl and mix until all the
ingredients are well combined.
Using your hands work in 3/4 c.
softened butter or margarine.
Beat 1 egg with 1 t. vanilla
extract. Work this into the flour
mixture until well combined.
Shape dough into 1 inch sized
balls and place 2 inches apart on
the prepared baking sheet.
Slightly flatten the balls with
the palm of your hand.
Back 350 degrees F (175 de-
grees C) for 10 to 14 minutes or
until the edges are lightly browned.
Remove the cookies to a rack to
cool.
Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Cancer Society Meets At Bank
The Swisher County unit of the
American CancerSociety met in Wells
Fargo Bank on Nov. 20 with seven
members and tire field representa-
tives from Amarillo present.
Evelyn Mote, president, presided
over the meeting. Kim Weatherly
being a new representative told the
group about the goals for the coming
year. Beth Jackson is the Coordinator
for Road to Recovery. She told the

CITIZENS FOR SWISHER
County will have a meeting for all
committee members at 7 p.m. Mon-
day in the SwishcrMcmorial Build-
ing. Everyone who is interested is
invited.

CRYSTAL RIVER gospel group
will perform at First Methodist
Church Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7
p.m. A meal will be served at 6:30,
with prices for the meal $2.50 per
person, and up to S7.50 per family.
SWISHER COUNTY Senior Cit-
izens will draw for a quilt on Feb
12, and for a bicycle on Dec. 21.
Tickets for each drawing are S5.
TULIA HEALTH and Rehab will
have a bake sale on Friday at 714 S.
Austin beginning at 9 a.m.
Proceeds will go towards the res-
ident's Christmas Fund.
Each year the fund provides
Christmas presents to residents
whose resources might be limited.
Join in the Christmas spirit by
supporting the bake sale. Dona-
tions will be greatly appreciated.
SILVERTONUNITED Method-
ist Church will present its annual
living nativity, a Walk To Beth-
lehem from 6-9 p.m. Saturday,
Dec. 16.
From Highway 86 turn south on
Main St, and park at First State
Bank. From there visitors will be
taken in small groups to tour the
scene at 10 minute intervals.
TULIA ISD will present a choir
concert on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7
p.m. in the THS auditorium. The
junior and high school choirs will
perform familiar Christmas songs.
Carol singing with the audience
will follow. Put on your Christmas
spirit and join the celebration.
TULIA DAY NURSERY annual
Breakfast With Santa will be from
10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Se- (
nior Citizens Center. Admission is
$5 for children and those adults
who choose to eat breakfast
Activities will includecrafts, sing-
ing, games and visiting with Santa.
Photographs with Santa will be
available.
AN EVENING of Christmas
music will be presented at the Home
Mercantile Building in Nazareth
beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Music will be led by the String <
Technicians and refreshments will
be available. The program is the
fourth in a scries of eight running *
through April.
