Wednesday fire
A Ford Bronco owned by Butch Anderson of Seminole was
destroyed Wednesday by a fire of undetermined origin.
According to Seminole Fire Marshal Andy Lammons, the
vehicle was on South Main Street and the driver was attempting
a turn when the fire erupted. All wiring and the motor were
incinerated, but no injuries were reported. (Sentinel Photo)

will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 20
at the Community Chapel on

who takes his message on how
drugs and alcohol,: ruin lives to
schools and churches around the
country.
Special music for the service
will be furnished by the Seminole
High School Choir and church
choirs of several Seminole
churches.
Anyone who would like to join
the choirs can call 758-2166 for
more information.
Mrs. Caldwell and Charla
Brotherton presided over
refreshments of hot dogs, nachos,
millionaire, chocolate, cherry and
pecan pie, tea and soft drinks.
Refreshments were served on a
Dresden plate quilt with bandanna
napkins.
In addition to the hostesses,
members attending included
Shaunie Selman, Shelia Baccari,
Susan Spence, Jill Darby, Tami
Ashley, Terry Elder, Kim
Grissom, Sherry Kildow, Lea Ann
Lord, Kathy Mullings, Dana
Quisenberry and Paula Minier.
Guests attending were Tamara
Upton, Gayla Harridge, Donna
Nichols, Cindy Therwhanger,
Linda Shortes, Tandy Kephart,
Brenda Shaw, DeAnna Strohman
and Donna Wheeler.
Son-in-law of
local graduates
Captain Roger B. Boykins,
whose wife, Brenda, is the
daughter of the Rev. McKinley S.
Oates of 404 SW Ave. E in
Seminole, graduated recently
from the U.S. Army’s Combined
Arms and Services Staff School at
Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
The nine-week course, which
is the cornerstone of the Army’s
officer education system, is
designed to train officers in the
skills needed to be an effective
staff member with the force in the
field.
Curriculum courses included
preparing a command budget,
setting up training programs,
mobilizing and deploying mock
units and giving staff
presentations.
Boykins is a 1974 graduate of
South San Antonio High School
in San Antonio and a 1978
graduate of West Texas State
University in Canyon.
Resident
completes
study course
Diana Lee Todd, who, along
with her husband, John, owns and
operates Sem-Tex Computer and
Office Supply, recently earned a
diploma from North American
Correspondence Schools for the
successful completion of the
schools’ general animal sciences
course.
Mrs. Todd, a native of South
Dakota, attended Midland and
Lee high schools in Midland. She
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth A. Beman of Midland.
She and her husband are the
parents of five children, Michael
Ray Todd, a graduate of Texas
A&M University, Melanie Ann
Moore of Bronte, Teresa Shelton,
15, Christina Shelton, 12, and
Terrance Shelton. 10. all of
Seminole.
The Todds reside at 102 SW
11th St. in Seminole.

Dear Editor:
I would like to thank The
Seminole Sentinel for covering
FFA quiz team; Michelle Wilson,
who was first in the
extemporaneous public speaking
contest; and Shea Foote, who
finished second in the FFA creed
speaking contest.
Other competitors from
Seminole included the junior
chapter conducting team,
consisting of Jim Shepherd, Julie
Harvey, Shanna Spence, Brandy
French, Mytee Condarco, Holli
Waters, Dayma Cope and Diane
Rieger, which finished second
and the radio broadcasting team
of Rupert Combs, Scott Byars and
Todd Shain, which finished sixth.
A dance sponsored by the
Seminole EMS Volunteers and
the "Texas Touch" band will take
place from 9 p.m.-l a.m. Dec. 2 at
the Gaines County Civic
Building.
Admission to the event is one
new toy per person, which will be
donated to a local civic
organization which will in turn
distribute the toys to needy
families during the Christmas
season.

grade classes as well.
