various locations free of charge the next few weeks.

The Seminole Area Chamber
of Commerce decided to sponsor
publication of the 48-page
directory earlier this year and
contacted Lammert) Publications
of San Antonio, which publishes
numerous city and county
directories.
Contained in the directory are
the names of all chamber
members and information about
, Seminole, such as churches,
recreational facilities, climate,
education facilities,
communications, health care,
transporation, and the like.
Copies are free of charge and
are available at the chamber
office at the present time. Copies
will also be available in so-called
"high traffic" areas of Seminole
as soon as possible.

Gaines is
oil leader
Gaines County led Texas in
crude oil production during
October, according to preliminary
figures released last week by
Railroad Commission Chairman
James E. (Jim) Nugent.
Gaines County was first with a
production of 3,394,275 barrels.
Andrews County was second with
3,313,605 barrels, Ector County
was third with 3,220,648 barrels
and Pecos County was fourth with
3,039,330 barrels.
Yoakum County was fifth with
2,907,861 barrels, Hockley
County was sixth with 2,671,459
barrels, Gregg County was
seventh with 2,530,814 barrels,
Crane County was eighth with
Texas crude oil production
averaged 1,857,951 barrels daily in
September. Texas had a
preliminary August production of
1,869,788 barrels daily. Final
production reports for August
indicated average production at
1,885,485 barrels daily.
1,597,795 barrels, Scurry County
was ninth with 1,342,730 barrels
and Wood County was 10th with
1,101,536 barrels.
The preliminary Texas oil
production figure for the month of
September is 55,738,519 barrels,
down from 57,963,418 barrels in
August, according to Nugent.
Texas oil production in
September came from 191,236
wells.
