for their regular meeting and Christ-
mas party Dec 9. Members present
were Joan Frost, Mary Womack ,
Yvette Sims, Nancy Cnise, Deanne
Poe, Jeanne Middleton, Stephenie
Bryan, Dalene Sims, Carolyn
Bloodworth, Janet Coile, Penny
Sanders, Pam Shmidl, hostess Susan
Brown, Lisa Schaenenberger, Jodi
Gates and Dixie Cogbum. Everyone
enjoyed the Christmas party.
Deanne Poe and Carolyn are over
this years lighting contest There will
be baskets for the first, second, and
third place winners.
One of the "Cookie Girls" who
served cookies to the guests at the
Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum
was Dacy Johnson of Canyon. Her
great-grandmother Jerry Brook was
telling me about Dacy and the other
girls who helped at the Museum.
Our sympathy to Terry Whitten
and her family on the loss of her
husband. Terry is the daughter of
Joyce Patching.
Monday, Dec.7, therewasa com-
munity meeting at Happy High
School. The decision was on whether
to keep an eleven man football team.
The room was filled with con-
cerned parents, school board mem-
bers, coaches and football players.
Kenneth Plumlee started the meet-
ing with info of pros and cons regard-
ing six man and, eleven man teams.
The main concern is the safety of the
linemen next year and in the years to
come. Monday night Dec. 14 the
Happy School Board will meet and
decide the football teams future. One
fact remains this last year was an
awesome year.
The science fair students are
raising money by recycling alumi-
num cans. Anyone who would like to
donate cans may drop them off at the

at the high school and they will come
pick them up.

A LARGE NUMBER of senior
citizens enjoyed dinner and a Christ-
mas party at the Center Sunday
evening. Jimmie Schulte, our presi-
dent, has away of making an evening
very special! A big thanks to Lou
Wethington, Tanya Schulte and
Meagan Schulte for caleringand serv-
ing a delicious meal to 45 senior
citizens.
After the dinner, Dorothy Kleman
chairman of the raffle committee
had different members draw a win-
ning name for a raffle prize. Mich-
elle Schmucher ofWichataFalls won
a quilt, Patsy Entrikcn of Hart won
the train, Mary Brown of Tulia the
bird house, James Wilhem the Christ-
mas table runner, Abriun Anderle the
pillows and Art Brockman the pil-
lowcases. Thanks for the great sup-
port we had for this very worthwhile
fund raiser.

Fohlmeier, Dean and Agatha John-
son and Vincent and Toby Gerber.
THE FAMILY OF Helen
BACKER gathered at the Arnold
Huseman home Sunday to celebrate
their mothers 87th birthday. Helen is
a residen tat Canterbury Villa in Dim-
mitt and she really enjoyed being
with her family.
JENNIFER HEIMAN AND her
infant daughter Carlie were honored
with a baby shower at the home of
Mona Schulte. Hostess were friends
of Darrin and Jennifer. Many useful
gifts were received from friends and
family members.
THE NAZARETH Elementary
Christmas music was enjoyed by
many Sundayaftemoon at the school
cafeteria.
ROBERT, MARY, and David
Verkemp spent the weekend in
Abilene with their daughter, Elaine
Irion and family. They visited and
helped with Elaine and Mackenzie
and everyone joined in singing Christ- twin sons, William and Micheal, born
mas carols. All then joined in playing Nov. 30. William Tyler weighed 6
