Have You Noticed...
By Michael Waits Sr, Pastor, First Baptist Crandall
... how these hot days absent
of rainfall make you see rain in
a different light? Imagine cool,
refreshing rainfall; imagine
standing in your brown grass
and feeling the cool, cleansing,
restorative rain fall gently on
your face, seemingly bringing
renewal to your very soul. Well,
that is a picture of what Jesus is
to the soul of man.
This place is one of my fa-
vorite places in the Bible; Jesus
speaks to the woman at the well.
She didn’t understand at first
that Jesus was talking about His
truth, His ways, His very own
self when He described the water
that He provides will insure you
will never thirst again.
Oh, how thirsty that woman
was for the peace that is the truth
that Jesus provides. She was liv-
ing with a man she wasn’t mar-
ried to. (Who says the Bible is all
about old times and old people
with no recognizable link to our
time now.)
Jesus saw right through the
woman’s life, just like He sees
your life now. And He still loved
her, still died for her, still pro-
vided the one way by which she
could have eternal life.
And think about what rain
does to grass and flowers. The
rain brings rich color from the
inside out of plants, and adds
strength to its structure, enabling
it to hold up to the battering of
wind and sun. Jesus did not make
mistakes nor did He make errors
in His teaching.
The picture of water and its
effect is a wonderful analogy of
what Jesus does to the very core
of those of us who surrender
ourselves to Him. His life giv-
ing presence in our lives gives
us more color, more life, more
vibrancy.
Hence the old Christian
hymn, “More about Jesus would
I know”. Because the more we
know Him, the more we love
Him. The more we love Him, the
more we become filled with the
very same life giving presence
He described all those years ago.
Do you need to be filled
with the life giving water Jesus
provides? He offers it to any and
all who will make Him Lord of
their life. Go to Him and ask
Him for life giving water of the
soul...You’ll be glad you did.

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days
of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to
seek him in his temple.
