Pirates Crush
Venus 27-1
Wrap up Playoff Spot
By Greg Rhea
The Crandall Pirates fact that the Kaufman Lions de-
wrapped up district play last
week by traveling out to Venus
to take on the Venus Bulldogs.
With a win against Venus, the
Pirates would clinch a playoff
spot.
Venus has suffered through
a long, disappointing season this
year, having only won a single
game all year and last weeks
game against the Pirates was
the worse loss of the season for
the Bulldogs. Crandall came out
and had their biggest run scoring
output in quite some time as they
totally annihilated Venus by the
score of 27-1.
With the win and due to the
feated the Alvarado Indians, the
Pirates assured themselves of a
spot in the playoffs. After start-
ing off very slow in district play,
the Pirates did a fantastic job
of turning things around in the
second half of district play and
they promise to be a very tough
team to deal with entering the
playoffs.
At the time of this article,
it is still undetermined who the
Pirates first round playoff oppo-
nent will be, but it looks as if it
will be Fort Worth Castleberry.
We wish the Pirates the best of
luck as they begin their playoff
run.
Seagoville Dragons Closing
in on the Playoffs
Dragons shut out Smith and South Oak Cliff
By Greg Rhea
The Seagoville Dragons played there best week of baseball last
week as they picked up two key district wins and looked very im-
pressive in doing so. The Dragons began the week by travelling to
Dallas to take on a winless A.Maceo Smith team.
The Dragons jumped out on Smith right from the start as this
game was well in hand before Smith even had their first at-bat. The
mercy run-rule came into affect in this one as the Dragons pounded
Smith by the score of 18-0.
The Dragons good play would carry over to Friday’s game
against the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears. Pitcher Eric Merriman
would have his best outing of the season by far as he would no-hit
South Oak Cliff in this one. Even though Merriman didn’t need a
lot of run support, the Dragon bats and the South Oak Cliff defense
would gave it to him anyways. Seagoville would take advantage of
seven South Oak Cliff errors and pick up another blowout victory,
this time by the score of 16-0.
After the two victories, the Dragons still find themselves tied
for the 3rd spot in the district with Adamson. It just so happens that
these two teams will square off against one another this Friday af-
ternoon with 3rd place on the line in the final game of district play.
The game will be played at Reverchon Park and the first pitch is
scheduled for 7:00PM.

Seagoville Middle School Softball
Team has Successful Season
Lady Dragons finish in the runner- up position for the City Championship
This year’s Seagoville Dragon
Middle School Softball team has expe-
rienced some great success. After an
undefeated regular season, the Lady
Dragons took part in the City Cham-
pionship Tournament. Seagoville de-
feated Griener Middle School in the
semi-final round by the score of 15-7.
This put the Lady Dragons in the City
Championship game against Franklin
Middle School. As fate would have it,
Seagoville would fall to Franklin by
the score of 8 to 1.
Even though the Lady Dragons
were not able to win the City Cham-
pionship, this season was still one to
be proud of. Seagoville finished the
season with an overall record of 11
wins and 1 loss. They outscored their
opponents by a score of 165 runs to
27 runs. Most of the young ladies that
are on the team are honor roll students
and have participated in three of four
different sports.
The Suburbia News would like
to congratulate these girls and their
coaches for the great season that they
had. With these young ladies around,
the future of Seagoville Lady Dragon
Softball looks to be a bright one.
Lady Dragons Finish 2nd in
District, Next up.. .Playoffs
Seagoville losing district title showdown game
ons began district play last week
knowing that they controlled
their own playoff path. Win their
final two district games and the
Lady Dragons would once again
be District Champs. The Lady
Dragons looked to start out on the
right foot as they began the week
by taking on South Oak Cliff.
Once again Alexis Story
took the mound for Lady Drag-
ons and once again she delivered
a solid performance. Story would
hold South Oak Cliff to just one
run on two hits as the Lady Drag-
ons would dispose of South Oak
Cliff by the score of 13-1.
With the victory over South
Oak Cliff, Seagoville was set up
for the final district game of the
year against Adamson. The win-
ner of this showdown would be
crowned the District Champs, best of luck in their playoff run.

Seagoville losing district title showdown game
against Adamson
By Greg Rhea
The Seagoville Lady Drag- In their first meeting, the Lady
citizens
Dragons were able to overcome
an early deficit and come away
with a comfortable 14-4 win.
This time around was almost the
total opposite of their first meet-
ing. Adamson came out in this
one and got to Story and the Lady
Dragons right from the start.
This time around the Lady Drag-
ons were not able to slow down
Adamson as Adamson stormed
past the Lady Dragons 15-3 and
claimed the district title.
The loss was a disappoint-
ing one for Seagoville but it will
be one that they will have to put
behind them now with the play-
offs beginning soon. At the time
of this article it is undetermined
as to who Seagoville will play in
the opening round of the playoffs.
We wish the Lady Dragons the
