The "Spirit of Giving” certainly prevailed in
Bellaire again this year, especially with those who
helped ;r. the Third Annual Christmas shopping
Trip” for the kids from Mapleridge Center. Many
thanks to the Bellaire Kiwanis, the city employees
and the citizens who made this year’s trip possible.

Battle of Orleans marked
Captain James Asbury Tait Chapter, United
States Daughters ot 1812, will have a buffet
luncheon and meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday,
Jan. 6 in the West Venetian Room of the Briar Club
2603 Timmons at Westheimer.
Doug Johnson, Channel 2 TV weatherman, will
speak at this meeting which commemorates the
169th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans
which was fought on Jan. 8, 1815. In this battle,
the American forces under General Andrew
Jackson were victorious over the British.
