John W. Craft
Dies in Sunset
John W. Craft, 84, died at
his home in Sunset at 3:45 p. m,
Monday, May 5. He had been in
failing health for the past
three years.
I Mr. Craft was born in Ma-
con, Georgia, and had been a
resident of Montague county
for 17 years.
Funeral services were held at
2:30 p. m. Wednesday, May 7,
from the First Baptist church
of Sunset with Rev. B. L. Huff
of the Primative Baptist church
of Ryan, Oklahoma, officiating,
assisted by Dean Hardy Stevens
of Decatur Baptist college. In-
terment was in the Smyrna
cemetery. Arrangements were
under the direction of Owens
Brumley Funeral Home of
Bowie.
Survivors include: two sons,
A. J.Craft of San Antonio and
. J. H. Craft of Sunset, and seven
rgrahdchildren.

Pfc. M. E. Camel is home for
a short visit with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. C. C.- Camel. He
- returned home from San Diego,
California, Wednesday and will
report to San Francisco, Cali-
fornia, Friday. He has just fi-
nished his boot training.
Mrs. Della Trotter has re-
ceived word from her grandson,
Sgt. Robert E. Trotter, who is
returning from Korea. She ex-
pects a visit from him soon. Sgt.
Trotter has been in Korea for
eight months. He is the -£on of
fr. and Mrs. R. E. Trotter of
Goldsmith.
Don Cunningham was here
from Denver City, Texas, Sun-
day to visit his brother, Glenn
Cunningham, member of the
faculty of Bowie highschool,
Mrs. Roy Curry and daughter,
Dianne, of Graham visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Worley, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Box are
expecting her cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. P. C. Hogue from Browns-
field this week.
Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Edwards
were in Fort Worth, Sunday, t
attend the appliance show at
Will Rogers auditorium.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Diffee and
children, Margaret, Butch, and
James Robert, and Janet Chris-
tine visited a neice at Ranger,
Texas, who is in the hospital
there.

Ceremonies .uniting Miss
Betty Jean Ellis and Sgt. Max
Stennett in marriage were per-
formed at the Stoneburg Bap-
tist church at 3:00 p. m. Sun-
day, May 4, with Rev. Tiff Cov-
ington pastor of the Bowie
Freewill Baptist church offici-
ating.
Music for the occasion was
provided by Mrs. W. V. Smith,
who accompanied Roland
Daniel as he sang “I Love Thee”
and “Oh Promise Me”.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was attired in a
lovely gown of powder blue lace
and net over blue taffeta. For
something old she wore a pearl
necklace belonging to her sister.
Accenting her costume, she
carried a bouquet of white car-
j nations upon a white Bible,
j Mrs. James Ellis uTas matron of
honor and wore a navy dress
with white accessories. James
Ellis, brother of the bride, acted
as best man..
Mrs. Stennett, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ellis of
Bowie, graduated from Gold-
Burg highschool in 1951.
Mr. Stennett, son of Mrs.
Frances Stennett of Amarillo
attended Bowie highschool be-
fore entering the US Army. He
has recently returned from
