THE lll.ll milYiKYElt STORE IV HANDERA
Before -the present building occupied by the Corner.
Drug Store was remodeled, for many years a big sign adorned
the iront on Cypress Street “E. Huffmeyer & Bro., 1875."
The Huffmeyer general store was first established by Emil
Huffmeyer, who was later joined by his brother, Adolph
Huffmeyer. The firm did a big business for some ten
years, handling general merchandise and buying and selling
cotton, hides, and pecans. The brothers were on the con-
tractor’s bond when the present court house was built,
and were compelled to complete the contract, thereby losing
several thousand dollars, which eventually resulted in in-
solvency tor the firm. As both the Huffmeyers were
honorable upright men none of their creditors lost a dollar.
The Corner Drug Store can supply you with pure drugs,
druggists’ sundries, toilet articles, stationery, fountain drinks,
etc. Physicians' prescriptions carefully and accurately com-
pounded.
