LARGE AUDIENCE
DELIGHTED WITH CON-
CERT BV PIANIST
'.?**t--TS/».' -.
^ A rare musical treut was fjiven a
large audience in Weatherford Col-
lege auditorium Wednesday evening.
The concert artist, Mr. Pau 1 van
Katwijk. dean of the School of Music
at Southern Methodist University,
who appeared under tlie auspices of
the Weatherford College Club, gave
a program of piano music which was
a delight to every lover of music. The
explanatory remarks which Mr. van
Katwijik mad" in relation to the con-
tent of each composition was a very
mudh appreciated feature of the pro-
gram. An appreciable blending of art-
istic finish, scholarly interpretation,
and adequate technique was noted
throughout the program which was
far from the sterotvped piano recital.
It was made up largely of works of
modem composers. Among the more
familiar composers Grieg, Schumann,
Schubert and Chopin there was a
strong sense of classical proportion
and dignity. He was enthusiastically
recalled after each group.
It Is the plan of the College Club
to bring other visiting artists here
during the year.
