main emphasis concentrates on
positive trends at the college
which includes enrollment fig-

image projected by the institu-
tion Quadrangle enlisted the aid
of the Student Government As-
sociation and the administration
in the information gathering
process. "It is a very complex
form which takes a great deal of
statistical and specific data to
complete. I've received great co-
operation and everything I've
asked for 1,'ve gotten. We have
a very supportive faculty, admin-
istration. and student body,” said
John Casey, President of the
Student Government Association.
"SGA would do anything to aid
Quadrangle in the pursuit of
Mortar Board status. It is a great
honor for the school and Quad-
rangle's future members.”
Adkins feels that the Mortar
Board application process is very
necessary and enhances the pres-
tige and honor of the affiliation.
“It gives them the most qualified
of groups and allows them to
keep their reputation as a 'big
time' honor society.”
Although membership with
Mortar Board itself is not limit-
ed, each chapter must set a
quota of 35 members, no matter
the size of the school "I think
that 35 is an appropriate num-
ber for Wesleyan, but I'm sure
surprised how larger schools
would he able to select only
35." said Adkins
Quadrangle is now accepting
applications for membership un-
til March 14 To be considered
for membership, one must be in
volvcd in at least two campus
organizations, have at least a 3 00
GI'A with no incomplctes or
failures, have completed at least
90 semester hours by the end of
this semester, and not graduate
on May 13. 1988 Last year. Quad-
rangle initiated the application
form Prior to this, the members
were selected from the Regis-
tar's records Adkins explains,
“It prevents us from overlooking
those who might be qualified."
Casey feels that Quadrangle's
current membership of 20 is
"strong They're the best of Wes-
leyan both academically and
exlracurricularly.”
Wesleyan's senior honor society
began with nine charter mem-
bers in a ceremony held in the
Fine Arts Auditorium on Sept.
