Lady Rams
by S««n M. Wood
The Lady Rams took a relaxed
attitude into their match against
Incarnate Word, Oct. 13. They
worked on jump serves and play-
ed their freshmen. It took four
games, which may have surprised
the Spikers but TWC eventually
won,
In games one and two the Lady
Rams walked over the Rattlers.
The scores were 15-4, 15-4.
The freshmen got a chance to
work in game three. The Spikers
kept up its relaxed pace but
found themselves fighting from
behind. Incarnate Word shocked
them, winning 15-13.
In game four the Spikers put
Incarnate Word away. The score
was 15-9.
"We relaxed too much,” said
senior Colleen Ford. "Everyone
was goofing off (In game three).
We let down on our passes."
On the afternoon of Oct. 15,
the Spikers had an important dis-
trict match that they weren’t
ready for. The University of
Mary Hardin Baylor was in town
and they were unstoppable.
UMHB was tough on defense.
The Spikers could not pass or de-
fend the Mary Hardin Baylor
squad. The Spikers were always
close but could never take over.
The scores were 15-12, 18-14 and
15-10.
"Everything broke down,” Ford
said. "Defense and passing
wasn't there. No one stood out.
The other team's defense was
excellent.”
This weekend, the Lady Rams
will be hosting the Wesleyan In-
vitational.
“I think we’ll do good," Ford
added. "We had a good practice
today (Oct. 17). We have TWU
tomorrow and they always give
us a good match. They'll get us
ready for the tournament.”
