Outstanding Senior Recital
After months of preparation
and work on elaborate stage de-
signs, the final recital of Mrs.
Lynn Garlington’s senior stu-
dents provided an evening of
fine entertainment for Bowieites
who attended the annual spring
presentation of dances Friday
evening in the City Auditorium.
The stage designs were far
more elaborate than any Bowie
has seen as far as local enter-
tainment i s concerned. The
distinctive quality and unusual
effect carried out in stage de-
signs, made them more attrac-
tive to the eyes of the aud-
ience. The setting for the se-
quence of dances featuring vat*
ious types of candy such as the
F rench Cream, Pom Pom Deligh*
and Spanish Cream, was set in
front of a„ large candy box set
"against the back drapes. *
In the dances, of the jewels,
the main theme of stage set-
ting was carried out in a large
treasure chest which was set
high oh a mounting against the
back drapes, in front of the box
the students performed various
dances such as the dance of the
rubies, the saphires and the
dance of the diamonds.
The climax of\the evening’s
entertainment caipe with th
presentation of the Coronation
Dance which was set during the
time of the coronation of Eliza-
beth II. Among the dances per-
formed was the "English Gigue
which depicted the gayetv which
prevails in the English villages.
All dances, executed smoothl;
by the Students, and the ar-
rangement of the attractive
stage designs bore the creative
style and*^ interesting quality
that have been carried out in all
of Mrs Darlington's previous
'recitals';
Those sending gifts were, Mrs. Roy Price.
