When the Adventurer went out of Offshore Adventures on a state

redfish, red snapper, black drum and sheepshead. Some of the
drum weighed up to 50 pounds and those were released. Tim
Thompson was captain and Lloyd Rodriguez and Rick Butts were
deck hands. _
Bigger fn he is
Derik Langford, 16-year-old

^caught this scalloped
hammerhead shark
Wednesday, March 14, when
‘he was fishing on Tenacious
with Capt. Scott Wigal.
Langford's shark, which was
Tiung at Fisherman's Wharf,

Offshore fishing out of
Fisherman’s Wharf has resulted in
big catches of vermilion and lane
snapper, shark, a few kingfish and
lings, according to Linda Mastropole.
Anglers on the bay boats have
been coming with catches of redfish,
trout, drum and sheepshead.
‘With good weather during Spring
Break we had daily limits of shark,
several weighing more than 100
pounds,” said Sherry DeBord at
Deep Sea Headquarters.
Fisherfolk are also catching king-
fish and vermilion snapper as well
as a few tuna that are starting to
show up.
On the offshore trips, a couple of
makos that weighed between 100
and 150 pounds were hooked, but
broke off.
Even though they broke off, they
were really hooked, DeBord said,
because the dock'has a video of the
catch!
Fisherfolk on the south jetty have
been catching limits of large sheeps-
head, some between 23 and 24
inches long, using live shrimp for
bait, reports Sharon Keehlisen at
Woody’s Sports Center.
Over on the end of the north jetty,
still using live shrimp, anglers caught
a few trout.
They’re catching oversize black
drum at Charlie’s Pasture and some
nice redfish over around the light-
house shoreline, she said.
Anglers going out of Dolphin
Dock Inc. have been catching a lot
of sharpnose shark during the week,
said Mike Lockhart.
Also during the week, they caught
a couple of nice hammerhead shark
that weighed around 150 pounds as
well as a 60 pound Warsaw grou-
per.
On the 12-hour trips anglers
caught a few tuna and amberjack as
well as a “lot of beeliners,” Lockhart
said.
Mary Ann Heimann at Offshore
Adventures reports “fishing’s been
good.”
She says the state water trips have
resulted in catches of red snapper,
redfish up to 40 pounds, sheepshead
and black drum weighing up to 50
pounds, which were released.
On the regular offshore trips, an-
glers caught limits of sharpnose
shark. The 12-hour trips produced
catches of African pompano and
amberjack.
