Turn In Your
Pledges Now
Bill Short, committeeman for
the Bandera Recreation Center,
J'A reports today that plans are
completed and work will start
right after Labor Day on the
Recreation Center at Mansfield
Park — provided that all who
have signed pledges bring in the
amount that they have pledged.
Mr. Short reports that some-
thing like 180 people have sign-
ed pledges, however only 95 have
turned in their money.
As soon as the money comes
in, he said, the committee will
let the contract and actual con-
struction will begin.

other bank equipment Tuesday night. The equipment is being moved in the beautiful new structure
on Main Strict this week to get ready for business and the formal opening within the next few
weeks Mr Hensley is h director of the First State Bank and Mr. Davenport is vice-president
and cashier of the bank Bank will be open for business in its new location on Monday, August 14.
Date for formal opening will be announced.

LET
A contract for 9 037 mile- on
R M Road 2«2» ' in Bandera
County has been awarded to a
San Antonio and San Saha firm,
ij: was announced in' Air-tin this
week by the State Highway Com-
mission.
H. L. Freeland, Inc., of San An-
tonio and George M. Amthor of
San Saba submitted the low bid
of $163,809 42 on the project.
Grading, structures, base and
surfacing is expected to take
180 working days, according to
R. 0. Lytton, District Highway
Engineer at San Antonio.
C. E. Hackebeil, Resident En-
gineer at Hondo will be in active
charge of the project while it
Is under construction. He said a
bridge will be placed across Smith
Hollow near Medina within the
180 days of highway construction.
Construction will start Monday
at Highway Hi.

HOWELL SUCCUMBS
Many friends-here will be very
sorry to learn of the death of
George R. (Pappy) Howell, who
entered into rest in an Houston
hospital on Wednesday, August
2 1967, following an extended
illness. Mr. Howell had been a
resident of Humble. Texas. for
seven years. He was 70 years
of age and was a retired truck-
ing contractor. He had visited
Bandera many times and was
well known here.
Survivors include the wife,
Mrs. Myrtle Howell, Humble;
son. G. R. Howell of Humble;
daughter, Mrs. Victor P. Head,
Houston; sisters, Mrs. Raymond
Pippin, Sudan, Texas, Mrs. Wil-
bur McFarland, Prairie Hill,
Texas; brothers, James L. Ho-
well. Houston. U. D. Howell,
Tehuacana, Texas; six grand-
children.
Services were held Friday at
10:30 a m. at the Chapel of the
Garden with Brother Ernest
Sibley of the Golf Drive Baptist
Church officiating. He was laid
to rest in the Brookside Cemetery.

Simon, son of Mr. and Mrs.

in a ceremony performed in First
Methodist Church, Medina, on
July 22 at 7 p.m. Rev. B. L..
Mattingly, pastor of the church,
officiated at this beautiful and
impressive ceremony.
The bride’s attendants were
her sisiter, Mrs. Bobbie Newman,
matron of honor, her cousin. Miss
Cathy Crawford, was her brides-
maid.
The groom was attended by
his brother. Alex Simon, best
man, and J. D. Collins, grooms-
man.

Gary Melton and Archie Simon
of San Angelo.

Mrs. Ben Tilghman and chil-
dren, Ross and Carla, of Man-
hattan, Kansas, spent several
days here this week with her
mother, Mrs. Lora Hunter, who
is ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mazurek of Lakehills, Texas, announce
the engagement of their daughter, Hattie Jane, to Mr. Bobby
Malone, son of Mr. Ernest W. Malone and Mrs. Floyd Tedder of
San Antonio.
The bride-elect graduated from Bandera High School, San An-
tonio Commercial College, and attended Interior Design classes at
St. Mary’s University. She is presently employed at Kelly Air
Force Base.
Bobby also attended Bandera High School, served four years
in the U, S-. Navy, arid is employed at Southwest Research Institute.
A November wedding is being planned at St. Victor’s Chapel.
