To collect within a few per cent
of tile total city taxation is consid-
ered an excellent record but to col-
lect all of the taxes except one and
one-tenth per cent is considered a
more phenomenal record and this is
what City Tax Assessor and Collec-
tor Neal R Baltbrop lias done. Or
the $106,700 taxes assessed on city
property he has collected all but
$1250. Of the amount uncollected
the assessor stated today that most
of that amount would bo paid.

Precipitation, However, is Very Light
Throughout the County.
Following several days of cloudy
weather, Sherman and vicinity has
been visited by a slow rain. The fall
however, was very light and insuf-
ficient to be of great benefit to the
country. The rain north of the city
extended only a short distance while
south the precipitation was heavier
than recorded in the city. In other
sections of the county only light
sprinkles have been reported.
AMUSEMENTS.
Alie attraction at Simmiau opera
house last evening was the comedy
with music attached, entitled? ‘‘The
Newlyweds and Their Baby." There
was a fair-sized crowd in attendance
and everyone seemed mighty well
pleased with the show. Well, in fact,
the show was all right. There is a
big company and the "kid" and the
other principals play their parts well
while the chorus is above the aver-
age.
The next attraction at the opera
house will be "The Classmates,"
matinee and night, next Saturiay.
