legislative session showing 316 men
and 204 women.
These figures were compiled from
reports submitted to the house of
representatives in accordance with a
resolution asking that each depart-
ment head show the number of wo-
men and men employed In their re-
spective departments together with
the information as to whether they
were married or single and where
the husbands of the women worked.
The resolution was introduced by
Representative Owen of Navarro
county and the statistics are com-
piled from his copy of the reports of
the department heads. The legisla-
ture abolished numerous places in
the capitol, but these were discoun-
one off ted in the compilation.
Of the 204 women employes, 151
are single and still bear the title
of Miss; 25 have been * married but
are now widows, while 28 have hus-
bonds living.
The compiled report does not in-
clude traveling inspectors of the
banking and insurance department,
the health department or the mar
ketlng and warehouse department, j
the railroad commission or the agri-
cultural department. ’Neither- does it I
include the shore deputies and boad
men of the fish, game and oyster I
