Bellaire Christian holds flea market/bazaar
St.Luke's Presbyterian offers
four parenting sessions
The Christian Woman’s
Fellowship of Bellaire Chris-
tian Church is sponsoring a
flea market/bazaar in the
church parking lot at 6610
Alder (Alder and Dashwood)
on Saturday, March 20,
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The group hopes to rent
approximately 50 spaces for
$15 per space. Persons or
groups who rent a space may
then sell any items they
bring, such as garage sale
items, plants, crafts, books,
jewelry, fine art, ect.
Proceeds from the space
rental will be donated to an
Outreach Project of the
Women’s Group.
For rental information,
call 774-0377 or 772-4201. In
case of rain on March 20, the
flea market/bazaar will be
held the following Saturday,
March 27.
St Luke’s Presbyterian
Church, 8915 Timberside,
offers four sessions of paren-
ting beginning March 11.
Sessions will be held at the
church from 7:30 p.m. until
9:30 p.m.
The topics will be “Disci-
pline” on March 11 and
18.“Sibling Rivalry” on
March 25, and “Compe-
tence and self Esteem" on
April 1.

Holy Land tour on April schedule
L.C. Orrick
“One can lift his spirt by
touring the Holy Land.”
That is the view of Reverend
L.C. Orrick, Minister to St.
Philip’s United Methodist
Church, who will lead such a
tour April 14-23.
The tour of Isreal will
include a one-day stay in
Cario, Egypt, and one night
in Amman, Jordan.
On the travel schedule is
the city of Jerusalem, the
Mount of Olives, the Garden
of Gethsemane, the Sea of
Galilee, the Mount of Beatit-
udes, Caesarea by the Sea,
and Masada.
The tour includes a bus
trip across the Sinai Desert.
One day will be spent
touring the city of Cario,
viewing the pyramids and
the King Tut exhibit.
Reverend Orrick would
welcome inquiries from on-
terested persons who can
call him during the day at
666-2175.
World Day of Prayer celebrated here March 5
World Day of Prayer, an
international celebration
sponsored in the United
States by Church Women
United, will be held Friday,
March 5, beginning 10 a.m.
at Bellaire Christian Church,
6610 Alder, and Bellaire
United Methodist Church,
4417 Bellaire Blvd.
This annual service unites
millions of poeple in prayer
services occurring on six
continents during a 24-hour
period.
This year’s theme is “The
People of God: Gathered for
Worship. Scattered for Ser-
vice.” The text was prepar-
ed by women of the Republic
of Ireland and of Northern
Ireland.
World Day of Prayer
provides men and women in
the United States with an
occasion to participate in a
nationwide offering which
goes into Intercontinental
Grants.
Bellaire Christian Church
will provide a nursery during
the service and coffee fol-
lowing. Men and women of
all denominations are invit-
ed to participate in this
ecumenical service.

The congregation of Beth
Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut,
will hold a March 7 carnival
in celebration of the Jewish
festival of Purim.
Church of the
Epiphany eyes
pipe organ
The Church of the Epip-
hany, 9600 South Gessner at
Bissonnet, has commis-
sioned the construction of a
$145,000 pipe organ, expect-
ed to be installed by Easter,
1983.
Fritz Noack of George-
town, Mass, has been select-
ed from among five major
organ builders in North
America to construct what
will be a 19-stop organ. The
church’s present electronic
organ,purchased in 1969,
has suffered from several
moves and has seen its
better days.
“God willing and the
creek don’t rise, the (new
organ) should last 100 to 150
years,” forecast one church
official.
The carnival will be held
from 12:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
A “Wheel of Fortune” will
be spun throughout the day
to determine winners of
prizes.
Tickets will be the cur-
rency for all rides, games
and refreshments through-
out the day. Pre-carnival
tickets will sell at the special
rate of six for a dollar:
tickets at the carnival will
cost 25 cents each.
