175 consignors sold 1900 head
of cattle to 303 buyers at the re-
gular cattle auction at Woodyvard
Friday, January 31, 1964. A
beautiful day preceded by over Zi
inch of rain made for a large
crowd in attendance and a very
active market.
Slaughter steers and heifers
were lower than last week and
sold at 17.50 to 19.00 and limit-
ed to no more than the good
grades. Slaughter cows were ful-
ly steady to strong compared to
last week; canners and cutter
cows sold at 9.00 to 11.50; util-
ity and commercial cows sold at
11.50 to 13.50. Slaughter bulls
were strong to 15.00 to 17.50.
Slaughter calves were no more
than steady to weak at 18.50 to
21.00
Stocker and feeder steers sold
at 15.00 to 19.00 for the dairy
breeds and plainer kinds. Most
feeders stopped at around 20.00
with replacement yearlings up to
23.00. Stocker and feeds heif-
ers sold at 14.50 to 17.00 for the
dairy breeds and plainer kinds;
17.00 to 19.00 for most feeders
and up to 22.00 for the replace-
ments.
Stock steer calves sold at $22
to 25.00 for the plainer and heav-
ier kinds and 25.00 to 28.00 for
the choice lights. Stock heifer
calves sold at 20.00 to 22.50 for
the plainer and heavier kinds and
22.50 to 25.00 for the choice
I ights.
Stock cows sold at 120.00 to
185.00. Cow and calf pairs at
150.00 to 242.50 paid for some
big Angus cows with big Angus
calves at side.
Breeding bulls were limited
at 125.00 to 200.00.
