Everyone is proud of this splen-
did rain. It will 'help the grain and
corn and will put moisture in the
ground for cotton planting which
will begin in a week or two if the
wea'ther permits.
Uncle Doc Newell has been ser-
iously ill, but is some improved at
this writing. Minnie Ruth Barnes
has missed school this week on the
account of a sore throat and bad
cold. Mrs. R. B. 'Stone is improv-
ing after being sick for some time.

Elm community spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. !C. O. Anderson also
Mr. Charlie Barnes and daughter,
Minnie Ruth.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Perkins, Mr.

visiting Mrs. Irvin’s sister in Atoka
Sunday.
Mrs. L. M. Jackson was called to
the bedside of her father who lives
in Arkansas, Thursday night. We
are glad to report he is improving
nicely and she was able to return
home, Sunday. Her sister, Mrs.
Wells returned home with her to vis-
it her daughter who is attending col-
lege at Durant.
The junior class presented their
play, “Here Comes Hattie” Friday
night. It was well attended.
The high school students attended
the show in Bonham Monday night.
Mr. Bill Blain gave the young folks
a social party Saturday night. All
reported a nice time. Also they
gave an Easter egg hunt Sunday.
H. T. Blain spent Saturday night
with Jesse James and Jackie Jack-
son.
Mr. and Mrs. Dock Carr spent the
week end with her father and moth-
er, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blain.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Williamson
visited her mother Mrs. Richard Mc-
Gee in Durant Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Compton are
spending the week with their son,
Mr. Frank Compton of 'Colbert.
Grandma Putman is very sick at
the house of her son, Mr. Clay Put-
man.
